:Recent News Update:

Racing commenced this weekend at the Western Nationals with a series of wild events.
With a few alterations made to the new D series blower fitted, the team were pumped to let loose and ready to see the new potential.
The first race starting on the Saturday, flew down the track posting a 6.30 ET.
With a thorough team check the altered came out for the second run. Straight of the line the car hugged the center line and managed to hit the timing block just as he cleared the finish line.
It is still unclear to what happened next and the series of actions after. From what we can see both of the shoots were deployed. The car has hit the left hand wall and rolled 2-4 times landing and sliding to the right hand side of the track. With the altered sustaining quite a bit of damage, Paul was unhurt and exited the car to be checked out by track staff and emergency staff. Great driving from Emma the other competitor to be able to pull up her car and get out of the way.

Unfortunately Paul has no memory of the run, all the way back from to the staging lanes, which might have been cause by a small concussion. Paul walked into the ambulance as he was cracking jokes and was driven to RPH. A few CT scans and other checks are in order, everything is in the clear, Paul remains in hospital for further monitoring due to the concussion and some on going head ache issues.

We kindly ask if anyone has footage or could help piece this puzzle together, while we also look at the car when it comes back to the workshop and we inspect the car further. Please send to us by messenger.

Drag Racing is an incredible sport and without all the saftey modifications, the lengthy quality checks carried out by all the team members and the ANDRA rule book, Paul is very thankful to be in the condition right now. Huge thanks to all the motorplex staff members and emergency team members there who helped.

The Aero Racing Top Alcohol Altered will present this weekend for the Westernationals in Competition sporting a new D Series PSI - an upgrade from the B Series campaigned for years.

Battle at the Beach

A good thrash and a bit of luck got the Aero Altered ready for the Battle at the Beach meeting at the Perth Motorplex, after ending up in the sand last meeting. Featuring Nitro and Blown Alcohol Teams, the good weather resulted in a reasonable crowd for the day.
The first qualifier at 2.30 resulted in the Altered almost blowing the tyres off on the hit, producing a smoking first gear with little traction - ET 6.70 was not ideal but ended up putting us second in qualifying as most teams struggled with the track.
For the compulsory qualifier at 5.30 we decided to try something different with tyre pressures, but again we struggled with traction and had to abort.
First eliminator was up against Top Doorslammer driver Maurice Brennan. On the hit for the burnout, the engine just stopped. Back in the pits the crew discovered the blower quill shaft has sheared - and the snout bearing had failed - possibly caused by the impact with the net at the previous meeting. We thought we had been pretty thorough with our inspections for damage, but this one caught us out. Many thanks to Dennis at High Speed Engineering for reverse engineering a rear brake bracket that got damaged by the parachute wrapping around the diff. Thanks also to Top Alcohol racer Sandro Bellio from Belgium for sending over rare Lamb replacement carbon brakes, and John Zappia for supplying Lamb brake calipers.
Congratulations to Nigel Johnson for the win in Blown Alcohol - the only team in the bracket to get down the track all day.
The team were happy to just get back racing so quick, and look forward to a little break before the Westernationals in early March.

We have been busy repairing the Aero Altered and we are good to go for this Saturday’s Blown Alcohol bracket at the Perth Motorplex. Come down and watch some great racing - kids free!

Night of Fire
Aero Racing came away from the Night of Fire with a trophy and damaged car this weekend. Triumph and tragedy on the same wind.
Six competitors fronted for Top Comp and our Q1 was a 5.947 off the trailer with PC short shifting. Q2 we tried a little adjustment to the tune that made the altered turn the tyres on the hit. That set us fourth overall for qualifying and drew the McClures in the turbo Torana.
PC managed the win with an improving 5.927 but unfortunately the parachutes got caught up after deployment and the altered ended up in the sand.
The team made the A Final but were unable to front with the damage from the beach and net.
Valuable points for the Championship, with a busy few weeks ahead before the next round.

Summer Slam

With the 2 weeks off, the team were keen to fire up the Altered and lay down some times to further our development. First pass mid arvo in the heat, saw the tyres smoke on the hit - “hmm track a little different from last meeting.” Paul mentioned
PC gave the launch re**rd curve with a fine adjustment for the compulsory qualifier - still a soft tuneup, and a nice straight 5.89 put the team in 5th position in Top Comp.
We drew the Gullotto Team and their Soarer for the first round - almost a second slower on handicap.
“The faster car has a big disadvantage on a pro tree, as there is no trigger point to start the two step process. I waited for the Soarer to leave, came up on the two step and waited for the orange. Seemed like forever, and a 0.085 light was good but the blower belt had different ideas and snapped in half. A little disappointed as the Soarer had difficulties on the run.”
The Altered ran perfect all day and crew were brilliant. We will take our Christmas break and come back for more development in the new year.
