Rare cars are nothing unusual around here, but this one is rare on another level.

This is an Innocenti Mini, and we’re told it’s one of only two currently in Australia.

At first glance it may look like a familiar classic Mini, but the closer you get, the more differences you notice. Built in Italy by Innocenti, it has its own styling, badging, interior details and Italian character, while still retaining everything people love about the original Mini.

We recently had the opportunity to give this little car a full detail, carefully working through the paintwork, brightwork and finer areas to present it at its best without taking away from its originality.

Regardless of the exact number remaining in Australia, there’s no denying this is an incredibly uncommon car and something most people will probably never see in person.

It will also be offered for sale, giving someone the opportunity to own a genuinely unusual piece of Mini and Italian motoring history.

Not every day you get an Australian-delivered Mitsubishi Evo IX in Amethyst Black Pearl through the workshop.

This factory colour is a rarely seen combination on an Australian-delivered Evo IX, and when the light catches it, you can see exactly why it’s such a standout.

My role was carrying out the final detail and machine polish before the car heads away for full PPF. It’s always rewarding being involved in builds like this, and a big credit has to go to the team at Kustom Rides for producing such an outstanding finish. The paintwork was a pleasure to refine, and we’re looking forward to seeing the car once it’s protected and fully assembled.

The engine bay is still a work in progress, but from what we’ve seen so far, it’s shaping up to be something pretty special. We can’t wait to see the completed build.

I know they’re not the toughest looking wheel in the world, but there’s something about seeing an EB Fairmont Ghia sitting on the wheels it left the factory with.

Takes me straight back to when these cars were everywhere on the roads.

Still reckon they’ve aged bloody well. 🤙

There are significant Australian muscle cars, and then there are cars like this.

A genuine HT GTS 350 manual — the specification developed to take Holden to Bathurst in 1969 and one of the most important cars in Australian touring car history.

I first detailed this car a few years ago, not long after its full nut-and-bolt restoration was completed. Finished to an extremely high concours standard, it’s one of those cars where the quality and attention to detail becomes more apparent the longer you spend around it.

While this particular car never raced at Bathurst, it does have genuine Australian competition history. The car was raced here in Australia and has supporting documentation to back up that history, adding another significant chapter to an already special car.

With the owner now preparing to offer the car for sale, it returned to Benzenes for me to go over the entire vehicle again. Paintwork, brightwork, engine bay, undercarriage, interior and all the finer details have been inspected, refined and presented to the standard a car of this calibre deserves.

A genuine Bathurst-spec HT GTS 350 manual. Concours restored. Documented Australian race history.

Cars like this don’t come along very often.
