I love these FB groups. People are so willing to share their knowledge. Within minutes of posting this morning I had the answer. Slats are back on the EJ front clip in the correct order. Fit it to the car body tomorrow.

Well a busy week in the workshop. Seam sealing the EH ute, getting the front subframe ready for some paint, then onto the EJ ute painting the front clip and fitting fuel pump and carb, plus all linkages and pipwork, Oh yes and not to forget the MKIV jaguar harness. I dont make many harnesses these days with the herringbone pattern cables. All the pre and early postwar cars have been restored or there is little interest in them anymore

Bit of painting this weekend. First batch of Gentle Maroon parts for my Honda CB250K4. Not that i ever treated my CB250 gently in 1973. I bought it brand new from Wilderspins in Biggleswade. I really wanted the gold one but it wasn't available so it had to be maroon or wait till Gold was back in stock. That wasn't going to happen. This bike was originally maroon, and there was lots of debate in my head.....maroon or the gold i always wanted. Maroon seems to have won through

meanwhile back in the workshop the work continues on the EJ. This week focus was on starter motor and carb. Both looking really nice. Starter motor went well stripped down cleaned repainted/plated, bench tested and refitted. Should have refitted before fitting the engine. Tricky job, definitely 2 man. Carb stripped, ultrasonically cleaned, all screws etc replated, new kit through it and now back together. Just have to find the insulator block so that I can fit it onto the manifold. Where did i put it??

Spent last week assembling the original grey motor for the EJ ute. I hate that bloody rope rear seal.. Crank seems really tight. I assume thats normal till the seal has bedded in properly. Never sure what to do with the manifold so I have painted it my usual 2K silver. Some will burn off once its started. Meanwhile fuel pump, carby and dizzy in ultrasonic cleaner. Watch this space.

On and off over the last 12 months this little beauty has been keeping me busy. I was asked to manufacture a bespoke wiring harness for it..............it has heaps of special hotrod stuff in it, possibly one of the most complex harnesses I have made as i had to integrate engine management systems, electric A/C unit, exhaust gates, electronic speedo, electric brake booster, twin fuel pumps............the list goes on. Just about finalised it last week and testing seems to prove that everything appears to work as it should. Will be excited to hear the thing fired up in a few weeks.
