See how .scrapper has created her exceptional layout that she shares with us below ...

This layout features my handsome grandson. Boys often dislike posing for photos because it feels unnatural to them, which is why I treasure moments like this. I love how this page captures a rare, sweet smile and celebrates a little boy who is truly a Nature Lover.
I created two generous chipboard clusters to frame the photo, filled with layered flowers, foliage, ferns, and toadstools. Behind the layered photo, I added a barb wire frame to create extra depth and a rustic woodland feel.
The barb wire frame was first primed with black gesso and then painted in rich rust tones. For the poppy heads, stump, and toadstools, I applied a few layers of clear gesso before colouring them with Distress Oxides in Black Soot, Barn Door, and Walnut Stain. I pressed the ink pads onto a craft mat and spritzed them with water to create small droplets. I started with Walnut Stain as the base colour, sliding the chipboard pieces through the ink several times and drying them with a heat tool between layers. I repeated the process with the remaining colours, then splattered a little water onto the pieces for a mottled, organic finish and edged them with black ink.
The title, foliage, leaves, and Wordpl@y were painted with acrylic paint to complement the natural colour palette. To finish the layout, I added art stones and splatters of white gesso for extra texture and softness.

shares her amazing layout with us today starting with the large 12x12 Dots circle stencil then adding Dusty Attic Pet chipboard to embellish her magical page ...

Today I’ve done a layout of my dog Benson. I started by using the stencil and some black texture paste in the background. I then used a rusty coloured ink for the clockworks chipboard. The rest of the chipboard I coloured using my Prismacolour Pencils. I also added some glossy accents over some of the pieces

🌟🌟Sunken Amphora🌟🌟another breath taking MDF Reveal by our mixed media Queen - See below as Kerstin explains her amazing inspiration behind her magical piece.

Sometimes a craft project develops a life of its own — and that’s exactly what happened with this mixed media piece. What originally started as an MDF cauldron base slowly transformed into something entirely different: a mysterious sunken amphora resting on the ocean floor of Atlantis.

The beauty of mixed media art is that there are no strict rules. Layers, textures, colors, and found elements begin to tell their own story while you create. And this project became a perfect example of intuitive crafting.

Instead of a mystical potion scene, the artwork evolved into an underwater fantasy filled with:
Creating Texture and Depth
One of my favorite parts of mixed media is building texture. For this project I worked with several layers to create the illusion of erosion, saltwater, and ancient surfaces.

The Underwater Details
The tiny fish and coral embellishments help bring movement into the composition. I wanted the amphora to feel partially buried beneath sand and sea growth, as if nature had slowly reclaimed it over hundreds of years.

The layered textures around the bottom create the impression of shells, reef structures, and ocean sediment collecting over time. Even the worn edges of the MDF shape contribute to the illusion of an ancient artifact.

Why I Love Mixed Media Art
Projects like this remind me why I love mixed media so much:
you can begin with one idea and end somewhere completely unexpected.

.scrapper stuns us with her amazing layout of her gorgeous daughter that she shares with us today, see below for Adri's inspiration and the stunning details she has added using Dusty Attic chipboard pieces ...

This layout is a beautiful tribute to my daughter and the special memories we share. The title holds a special meaning. It is a reminder to embrace who you are, stay true to your values, and never lose sight of what makes you unique. As I look at this photo of my daughter, I am reminded of her kind heart, strength, and individuality. The title perfectly reflects my wish for her to always believe in herself, follow her own path, and remain authentic in everything she does.
To coordinate with the warm tones of the background, I used a brown ink pad to colour the title, decorative frame, pieces of the Swirly Vine, and the Wordpl@y phrases, creating a cohesive and harmonious look.
To add fullness and texture to the floral clusters, I painted the Foliage #23 chipboard pieces with white acrylic paint, cut them apart, and tucked them among the flowers. The adorable Mini Forget Me Nots were the perfect addition to this layout. I painted them with blue acrylic paint and incorporated them throughout the layout, adding some to the floral clusters and others to the title and Wordpl@y phrases.
To finish the design, I embellished the clusters with pearl beads for a touch of elegance and added white gesso splatters across the layout to create softness, texture, and visual interest.

MDF Moon has been expertly created by our mixed media Queen - this time with a Poppy theme - Have a look at the wonderful dimension she has achieved by manipulating the chipboard.

I love to work on MDF bases in mixed media style with multiple wet layers, pigments and and crackle effects. MDF provides a far more stable and durable foundation compared to chipboard materials.

One of my favourites is the Moon. So far, I’ve mostly used this design as a fantasy-inspired backdrop for Halloween projects, but it works for so many more ideas. Here, I used it as a background for a poppy field, which is blooming so beautifully here right now.

This simple laser-cut MDF Moon became the perfect canvas for a creative mixed media journey where nature meets a touch of steampunk.

Combined with layered chipboards, rusty effects and gears, the design celebrates my love for blending organic beauty with industrial details. An eyecatcher of the piece is a poppy flower made from air-drying clay. It adds a beautiful focal point and creates a striking contrast to the flatter chipboard embellishments used throughout the design. The poppy heads were embossed using an embossing folder.

What comes to mind when you see the Moon?

My favourite way to alter chipboard is with a simple household product and paint.
I like to sprinkle bi carb over the surface of the freshly painted piece of chipboard. I use a good chocolate brown paint and apply generously.
Then when you add the bi carb and spritz with a small amount of water, it will fizz up and react with the paint. Dry well to create a surface that looks like a rusty patina with lots of texture.
Once dry ,you can add Vintage gold wax and a turquoise metallic paint to resemble that rusted brass or gold look.
The good thing is you can tweak what you do after the paint layer to give different patina's or looks.

I’ve done a soft feminine page for you today using this really pretty floral range. The title was firstly inked and then a light layer of coloured pencil put over the top. The vines were all coloured using one of my favourite mediums, Prismacolour pencils

This layout features my little grandson enjoying one of his favourite activities, playing in the sand and perfectly captures this sweet moment of childhood fun. He gets completely absorbed in his own little world, happily filling sand molds and exploring different shapes and textures. Watching him play so contentedly inspired the title, A Little Dirt Never Hurt.
The background papers in this layout are quite busy, so I chose to heat emboss all the chipboard pieces with white embossing powder. This helped them stand out against the patterned papers while adding a clean, crisp finish. For contrast, I incorporated black engraved phrase pieces and a word tag, which draw the eye and add visual balance to the design.
