New oil cooler is mounted, with lines ran. Managed to find the perfect spot for it in front of the AC Condenser - so it’ll have plenty of airflow! Luckily enough, two of the mount points on the oil cooler’s bracket also lined up with existing holes in the centre of the EK’s radiator support. So getting one side of it secured was as simple as putting a few nut-serts in to the rad support.

Have also got the new rear main seal installed (with a healthy dollop of aircraft sealant around the outside). The genuine Honda seal is definitely different to the aftermarket seals - it’s a much closer fit overall.

Next up will be re-mounting the sump, flywheel, and clutch!

I imagine the look on my face when i saw that not only was my rear main leaking again (as i suspected) but that the block plug was also leaking was VERY similar to the face my parent friends make when they get THAT call from the school about their kids 🤣🤣

Oh well, at least ive seen it now and not when everything goes back on 🤣

That rear main seal has been a timely lesson in only using genuine honda…… it feels soft compared to the original / how it was when i installed it. No wonder it was leaking.

The cool thing about owning a racecar is that i never have time to work on the other cars - so currently, both my daily drivers are out of commision 🤣

Today’s job will be pretty big. The passenger side engine bay wiring will be tucked in to the passenger engine bay frame in order to make way for an oil cooler and its lines.

On top of that, the transmission will be coming out as the brand new seal we had installed has disintegrated.

Wish me luck lmao.

*singing* you put your gearbox in, you take your gearbox out, you put your gearbox in, and thats what Hondas are about

There have been a lot of sins hidden for many years by my massive Edelbrock intake manifold. Questionable wiring, a mess of hoses - but worst of all is the factory B16 oil cooler (or, lets face it, oil WARMER)

This thing sits bolted to the back of the motor between cyl’s 2&3 and tries it’s darn bestest to warm your coolant or cool your oil. Unfortunately, it doesn’t really achieve either well.

So, in the bin it goes, and a aftermarket oil cooler will go in its place!

🤠 crashing your race car is for certain a good investment and much better than owning a home or having any sort of financial stability 🤡

Thank you to everyone that’s joined me on my racing journey so far, here are some of my best car / racing fails! Including a particularly big fail 🤣

Crazy scene outside repco bibra lake - judging by the road this pot hole has claimed a few cars in the past too!
