My first car, a VK Commodore, not that popular back in the day, was the first plastic bumper edition Commodore....
But I still own her and have a soft spot for the early commodores, so when this very good original VK rolled into the shop with a nice list of mods for me to do, she got two thumbs up and a smile!
Starting at the rear we split tubbed her to the chassis rails so we can fit a 275 radial, new shortened 9" diff with alli carrier truetrac, 35 spline axles and Wilwood brakes.
Custom moly control arms and brackets and extra weld and reinforcement on factory pick-up points.
Inside we built a 6 point removable rollcage with parachute brackets.
And up front we smoothed the engine bay out, fitted the LS engine and turbo400, built some stainless tri-y headers, which are 1 7/8" off the heads into 2" collectors, then twin 2.5" into 3.5" collectors which will happily support 1000hp if required.
