You’ve probably heard both terms, but they don’t mean quite the same thing.

EV means fully electric — powered entirely by a battery, with no petrol engine.

NEV stands for New Energy Vehicle — a broader category that can include fully electric vehicles, hybrids and plug-in hybrids.

So, while an EV can fall under the NEV umbrella, not every NEV is fully electric.
