Sugar City Powerfest

Well good morning everyone and Happy Father's Day to all the Dad's out there.

It's that time of the year where you would normally be getting sick of all the Sugar City Powerfest spam and we would normally only be a couple of weeks away from the big event, but with Kim and I making the decision to move to Tasmania, Sugar City Powerfest just couldn't happen. Now that we have finally finished getting settled in and all the unpacking is now complete, we have a small amount of Sugar City Powerfest merchandise left for sale. This will be the last ever Sugar City Powerfest merchandise available as after over 25 years of being involved with club's etc running events, and running our own events we have decided there will be no more.

There will be no holds and it's first in first served until they're all gone. Discounted postage available if multiple items are purchased.

Exactly how I’ve described the judging for years to you all. Great to see another push towards clarity and consistency across the board.

After some discussions with competitors, I was suprised to hear that some of you aren't exactly sure what judges are allocating points to when it comes to the Driver skill points.

So I thought I would give you a little breakdown of what im looking for as a judge and what makes up your score.

I'll also try and put together some videos in the coming weeks to break down each category and show examples of good and bad etc.

What's y'all thought on how drivers skill is judge?

It is with a very heavy heart that I write this to you all, and firstly I want to thank all of you for your support of our Sugar City Powerfest events.

Unfortunately, due to some issues within the Palmyra Drag Racing Club Inc and the logistics involved in trying to organise this event from my new home in Tasmania, Kim and I have had to make the tough decision to cancel this year’s event. With the substantial costs involved to put together a top quality event and maintain the standards we have set, plus the uncertainty of not knowing who we would now be dealing with at the club and not knowing what condition it may be in when we get there, we simply cannot take the risk or the potential stress that goes along with that, combined with the normal stress involved in running such a massive event. I hope you can all understand how big this event became and how hard it is for us to walk away from it, but it is in our best interests to move on from the venue.

Once again thank you all for your continued support and we wish you all the best in the future.

❤️ A Message from – Palmyra Drag Racing Club ❤️

There are plenty of you who saw the announcement about the upcoming MAYHEM Burnouts, marking the last stand‑alone burnout event that Jason and Kim will be running. I know there was a lot of concern that this meant there wouldn’t be a Sugar City Powerfest this year.

I want to take a moment to sincerely thank Jason and Kim for everything they have poured into these events and into Palmyra over the years. Their passion, dedication, and countless hours of work have helped build something truly special for our motorsport community, and we are incredibly grateful.

And yes — Sugar City Powerfest is happening.

💥 2026 will be the FINAL Sugar City Powerfest 💥

This will be the last ever Sugar City Powerfest to be held at Palmyra Drag Racing Club Inc, running 18–20 September 2026.

As Jason and Kim prepare to relocate to Tasmania, they are coming back one last time to say goodbye to everyone in true Sugar City style. It will be a bittersweet but unforgettable weekend.

To close, I’d also like to acknowledge that Jason will be stepping down from his role as President. While this is a significant change, I’m pleased to share that Jason will remain on the committee, continuing to support Palmyra Drag Racing Club and all of us for the remainder of the year.

OK there are plenty of you that saw the announcement about the upcoming MAYHEM Burnouts being the last stand-alone burnout event that Kim and I will be running, and lots of you were concerned that there wasn't going to be a Sugar City Powerfest this year but here it is.

2026 will be the last ever Sugar City Powerfest to be held at the Palmyra Drag Racing Club Inc on the 18th-20th of September. This marks the end of this particular event as we are relocating to Tasmania but are coming back to say goodbye to you all in style.
