🚗 NOWRA, WE’RE CLOCKING OFF FOR THE LONG WEEKEND!

The tools are getting a break and so are we 😎

🔧 Closing Friday at 5pm
☀️ Closed for the long weekend
🔧 Reopening Tuesday at 8am

Double demerits run Friday through Monday, so watch the speed, leave the phone alone and buckle up. A long weekend is much better without an expensive souvenir from Highway Patrol 😅

And yes, I (Ally) am still writing these posts despite my very public resignation.

Apparently the exit interview should’ve included “who’s doing Facebook?” 😂

Enjoy the break, travel safely and the Nowra crew will see you Tuesday ❤️🖤💛

Nowra, apparently you’ve missed some important company developments. 😂

I resigned.

Tim responded with an absolutely ridiculous formal acceptance letter.

Management is aware I’m not actually vanishing — I’m just removing myself from the phones, the chaos and approximately 97% of the nonsense.

Naturally, this has now become a full-scale HR grievance involving the owner, management, my husband… and unfortunately, they’re all the same bloke.

NOTICE OF RESIGNATION - You all Asked so here it is....

Effective Monday, 5th of October 2026

Dear Timothy,

Please accept this letter as my formal notice of resignation from my position at Radke’s Tyre & Auto, effective Monday, 5 October 2026.

After careful consideration, I have decided it is time for me to pursue other opportunities — preferably ones that do not involve tyres, mechanical bookings, regos, staff problems, supplier invoices, customers, phone calls, emails, payroll, or being asked where something is when it is directly in front of the person asking.

I would like to thank Radke’s for the many opportunities I have been given during my employment, including but not limited to:

Learning far more about tyres than I ever intended to know.
Becoming an unpaid psychologist, mediator, marketing department and general finder of lost things.
Discovering that apparently every problem can somehow become an “Ally problem”.
Being married to management, which I have now determined is a significant conflict of interest.
Developing the ability to answer a phone, reply to an email, solve a staffing issue and create a Facebook post simultaneously.

Unfortunately, I feel I have reached the end of my professional journey with the automotive industry.

I am therefore leaving to focus on my new career in laundry, where I have been assured the machines are less emotionally demanding than the people at Radke’s.

Please arrange for all outstanding entitlements to be paid promptly. As I am also part-owner of the business and married to you, I acknowledge this may make the offboarding process somewhat complicated.

I will return all company property in my possession, excluding anything I personally paid for, anything I like, and the good pens.

I wish you and the Radke’s team every success in the future.

Please note that this resignation relates strictly to my employment at Radke’s Tyre & Auto.

At this stage, my position as your wife remains under review.

Kind regards,

Ally Radke

THIS is the kind of review that makes our day. 🥹❤️

It’s always lovely to receive a 5-star review, but when it comes from someone who has spent more than 20 years working in the tyre industry themselves, it means that little bit extra.

Luke called our Nowra store needing just one tyre for his Mazda and Keith had him sorted straight away — friendly, efficient and with the kind of service we always want people to experience when they walk through our doors.

We’re incredibly proud of Keith and the way he looks after our customers. Reviews like this remind us that sometimes it’s not the biggest jobs that leave the biggest impression — it’s simply taking the time to look after someone properly.

Thanks so much for taking the time to leave such a wonderful review, Luke. And Keith… top bloke indeed. 😂👏

🚗 🛞 Wheelie Wednesday with Ally 🛞

Why does my steering wheel shake when I'm driving?

If you've ever been cruising along and noticed your steering wheel starts to vibrate or wobble, don't ignore it. It's your car's way of telling you something isn't quite right.

Some common causes include:
🛞 A wheel that's out of balance.
🛞 A tyre that's been damaged by a pothole or kerb.
🔧 Worn steering or suspension components.
🛑 Brake issues (especially if it only happens when braking).
📐 Wheel alignment issues (less commonly, but still worth checking as part of a full inspection).

Sometimes it's a simple fix, and sometimes it's an early warning sign of something that could become more expensive if left too long.

If your steering wheel has started doing the "morning dance", pop in and let our team take a look. We'll inspect the vehicle properly to find the real cause rather than just guessing.

Have a question you'd like answered in a future Wheelie Wednesday? Drop it in the comments! 👇

❤️💛 Keeping Port Stephens & Nowra rolling safely, one Wheelie Wednesday at a time.

🥚 What's an "egg" in a tyre... and why isn't it covered under warranty?

It's one of the questions we get asked the most.

A customer comes in with a bubble on the sidewall and says, "The tyre's practically new! Surely it's faulty?"

In almost every case, the answer is no—and here's why.

A tyre isn't just a piece of thick rubber.

Hidden beneath the rubber are incredibly strong reinforcing cords made from materials like polyester, nylon and steel. These cords are the tyre's backbone. They support the weight of your vehicle, help it keep its shape and allow it to safely cope with the forces of braking, cornering and driving.

When you hit a pothole, clip a kerb or strike something hard on the road, the tyre can be crushed between the obstacle and the wheel rim.

The rubber is designed to flex and often springs back into shape...

But the reinforcing cords inside don't always survive the impact.

If those cords snap or tear, they leave a weak spot in the tyre's structure.

Your tyre is still holding around 35 psi of air pressure, and that pressure is constantly pushing against the inside of the tyre. Without the reinforcing cords to hold everything together, the pressure forces the rubber outward, creating the bulge—or what most people call an "egg."

🥚 The bubble isn't extra air trapped inside the tyre.
It's your normal tyre pressure pushing against a section where the internal structure has failed.

⚠️ Can it be repaired?
Unfortunately, no.

Once those internal cords are damaged, the tyre has lost its structural integrity. Even if there's plenty of tread remaining, the tyre is no longer safe to use and must be replaced.

Why isn't it covered under warranty?

Tyre manufacturers warranty their tyres against manufacturing defects—things like faults in the materials or the way the tyre was built.

A sidewall bulge is almost always the result of an external impact, such as:
• Hitting a pothole
• Clipping a kerb
• Striking road debris
• Driving on a significantly underinflated tyre, making it more susceptible to impact damage

This is classified as road hazard damage, not a manufacturing fault.

Think of it like dropping your phone. If the screen cracks after you drop it, it doesn't mean the phone was built incorrectly—it means it suffered accidental damage. The same principle applies to tyres.

If you're ever unsure whether a tyre is safe, don't take the risk.

Pop into Radke's Tyre & Auto and we'll happily inspect it for you.

❤️ Your tyres are the only thing connecting your vehicle to the road. Looking after them means looking after everyone inside it.
