It’s been a big couple of weeks for all of us at Future Auto Northgate / Virginia - firstly we took out the Future Auto Service Centres “Workshop of the Year” for the second year in a row and 4th time since 2012. Very proud of my team, they definitely deserved this.
Secondly we all got to enjoy our end of year Xmas party with our families and had a fabulous time. 10years ago there were 6 staff and family, this year 25!!! Thank you to our local community for all your support!!!

We were recently visited by a group of young people who work on robots in their free time! The students are part of a robotics community based in Northgate, called BotBuilders. They are currently participating in a challenge called First Tech Challenge where they are designing, building, coding (and iterating!) a 47cm cubed robot to undertake challenges on a 3.3mtr square field. A challenge suitable for students aged 13-17yo. In April 2023, some of these students competed at the World Championship and were the first Australian team to have won a 1st place award in their division! For the new season, called 'Center Stage', the BotBuilders were keen to find similarities between the automotive industry and between building a robot, managing a team, building/promoting team awareness, and engaging with customers and the wider community.



We were thrilled to host a tour of our workshop and educated the students about the inner workings of our workshop. The students asked a series of questions that were relatable to both robotics and the automotive industry, including safety, management of parts, tightness of screws, working as a team, and communicating with the public. It was fantastic to see their commitment to learning from and helping the wider community and for their enthusiasm for robotics shine through!



GPD wishes both BotBuilders FTC robotics teams all the best for the upcoming State competition.
