Another car that left the workshop a few weeks ago was this incredibly cool classic BMW 7 Series.
We spent an enormous amount of time transforming virtually every part of the interior. This wasn't your average trim job—almost every component was individually tailored and retrimmed.
The centre console and lid were completely reshaped and covered, the door trims were fully retrimmed, the seat pockets were removed, filled and recovered, the steering wheel was hand wrapped, and we fitted beautiful German Whiskey squareweave carpet throughout. The dashboard was completely removed and wrapped in black Alcantara, along with the roof lining, while the sun visors were trimmed in leather.
The seats were rebuilt and trimmed using our own unique methods, we designed and 3D printed a custom lower gauge pod, and even integrated a USB outlet into the rear of the centre console.
Being such a high-specification car for its era, it constantly surprised us with the complexity of its electronics. Combined with its age, almost everything we touched needed repairing before it could be retrimmed, making this one of the more challenging projects we've completed.
The entire interior is finished in premium tan Nappa leather with black accents, embossed inserts, tan Dinamica suede through the doors, and black Alcantara across the dash and roof. The end result is an interior that feels modern while still respecting the character of this classic BMW.
A huge thank you to my team who put in countless hours to achieve this result:
Kyle Leighton Farrow
Kieran Robinson
Maverick Irvine
The boys also did an outstanding job on the paintwork, which really completed the car.
A big thanks as well to Chad Heckenberg from Wiring & Dyno Tuning for helping install the new gauges and sort out a few electrical gremlins in the old girl.
We're incredibly proud of how this one turned out.
