WILD OPENING NIGHT OF ASH PAGE
If you come to Speedway for the first time tonight, you would not have left disappointed from the opening night of the 2026 East Pilbara Tyre Services Ash Page Memorial at Hillview Speedway.
In the end, there were three fantastic rounds of heat races across all divisions.
Junior Sedans started on the wrong foot, with two accidents before a lap was completed, but it's Kalgoorlie’s Charlie Scott who stands at the top of the points table.
There was a scary moment for Archie Root, who almost ended up upside down in turn three, but somehow saved it and landed on all fours.
Speaking of hairy moments in turn three, three Production Sedans almost ended upside down, with Nuno Mendes, Jack McAuley and Mick Roberts all centimetres from ending up on their lids.
The worst of them all was Roberts, who smacked the concrete wall as he landed back on his wheels, ending his weekend prematurely.
There is a surprise leader in the division, with Cody Blight having a strong run to lead over McAuley and Josh Fraser.
Street Stocks have been surprisingly tame after the last few months of action, with the most races going start to finish so far.
Cjay Flavel has been having a stunning run so far, leading Street Stock points over locals Lenny Bates and Donny Davis.
The Davis Family have been having a strong run in the points. Despite a mechanical mishap in his last heat, Ryan Davis is sitting in second place in the Legend Car points and can claim to be the first-ever heat race winner at Hillview in the division. Ben Boyd leads the points, with Ken Melvin third.
Jack Buzzard made a whole heap of fans in Newman this weekend, becoming the first driver to go upside down in the Limited Sprintcars. He also had a moment in the second heat race where, after spinning the car, he stood on two wheels for what felt like an eternity.
Bradley Chant currently leads the Limited Car points, while Bruce Watt leads the small field of Wingless Sprints.
Racing kicks off again at 6 pm tomorrow.
