🚂 A rare visit from an old locomotive named Crankcase Express... A distant relative of a certain famous blue engine. 😉
Now, we know this is far from a steam train, but this Hyundai iLoad certainly had the soundtrack.
It arrived with a severe piston ring failure that had built up so much crankcase pressure the engine would only run with the oil filler cap removed. As it reversed into the workshop, the rhythmic chuffing and puffing had the whole team looking around for train tracks.
While it might get a laugh, excessive crankcase pressure is no joke. It's often a sign of serious internal engine wear and, left unchecked, can quickly turn into a much more expensive repair.
If your vehicle is:
• Blowing excessive smoke
• Using more oil than usual
• Pushing oil from seals or the breather
• Making unusual huffing, puffing, or breathing noises
…it might be time to have it checked before a minor problem becomes a major one.
The good news? We keep a large range of tested engines and transmissions in stock, removed and ready to go. By supplying and fitting everything in-house, you avoid the middleman's mark-up and get the job completed by the same team from start to finish.
If your vehicle is sounding more like a steam locomotive than a road car, send us a message or give the office a call. We'll do everything we can to get you back on the road quickly and as cost-effectively as possible.
