“Why can’t I just use the same type of brake pads in both cars?” 🤔
It’s a fair question—especially when one car does the school run and the other tows the caravan.
Choosing brake pads is about more than finding a set that fits. Your vehicle and how you use it matter too.
This reel explains why different cars and driving needs call for different brake pads—and what to consider when choosing yours. 👇
Unsure which ones you need?
Bring your vehicle details into Cockys Automart and have a chat with our team. We’ll help you find the right pads for your car and the driving you do.

“𝙎𝙝𝙚’𝙡𝙡 𝙗𝙚 𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩, 𝙞𝙩’𝙨 𝙨𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙚𝙙,” he said as he walked away.

But you have that gut feeling.

What he said just didn’t sit right.

You glance at the brake fluid reservoir. The level looks fine, the cap’s on, and the car stops perfectly on the drive to the shops. But that inner voice tells you something is not quite right.

You close the bonnet, dismiss the feeling and move on.

A few weeks later, you’re heading down a long, winding hill. Corner after corner, you’re leaning on the brakes.

A little voice in your head, a feeling in your stomach tells you "The brakes don't quite feel right, is it just my imagination? I hope so, I hope my brakes hold out.

"Hmm, maybe I should have done that brake fluid change"😟

Did you know brake fluids absorb moisture over time—even with the cap on?

That moisture lowers the fluid’s boiling point. During hard or prolonged braking, the fluid can boil, reducing braking performance when you need it most. It can also contribute to corrosion inside your braking system.

The level tells you how much fluid is there. It doesn’t tell you what condition it’s in.

So when was the last time you changed your brake fluid?

If its been a while, I suggest you drop into 𝘾𝙤𝙘𝙠𝙮𝙨 𝘼𝙪𝙩𝙤𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙩 today, before your find yourself heading down a hill with no way to stop.🔧

The first warm day is a good reminder to check what’s been happening under the bonnet over winter. Mice can make a home in places you’d never expect—including around your car’s air conditioning system.
If the air con smells strange or the airflow seems weak, it’s worth getting it checked before the warmer days arrive.
