🥇 1999 HSV SV99 – The Grant Hackett Gold Edition!

One of HSV's more unusual limited-edition models, the VT Series II SV99 was produced in just 99 examples.

Every car was finished in the distinctive Hackett Gold, named in honour of Australian swimming champion Grant Hackett.

Powered by a 250kW 5.7L LS1 V8, the SV99 featured exclusive 18-inch alloy wheels, special badging and a striking mustard leather interior.

A rare combination of Australian sporting history and HSV performance!

VH Commodore SL/E — “How far can Commodore SL/E go? Ask its computer.”
This was Holden luxury in the early 1980s.
At the top of the VH Commodore range sat the SL/E, combining distinctive two-tone styling and luxury appointments with some technology that must have seemed seriously impressive at the time.
And then there was that interior.
Claret Burgundy velour, plush seating, centre console and a dashboard packed with instruments and controls — there's absolutely no mistaking the era.
Holden even made the technology part of the advertising:
“How far can Commodore SL/E go? Ask its computer.”
It's a brilliant snapshot of what Australians considered a high-tech luxury car more than 40 years ago.

Holden Monaro GTS — “With a Touch of Class.”
Here’s a great piece of mid-1970s Holden history — the HJ Monaro GTS, available in both two-door and four-door form.
Holden gave buyers the choice of 4.2-litre or 5.0-litre V8 power, with the brochure highlighting everything from the four-speed manual and sports instrumentation to ventilated front disc brakes, sports seats and the unmistakable GTS styling.
And there are some brilliant details in the advertising:
“10 great reasons for choosing new Holden Monaro GTS.”
Honeycomb wheels, bonnet and guard vents, stripes, spoilers and that classic GTS interior — it's hard to mistake one for anything else.

1985 Holden Calais — “World Class Luxury.”

Few Holden interiors capture the 1980s quite like the VK Calais.

From the outside, the Calais brought a more sophisticated look to the VK range with its distinctive two-tone treatment and luxury detailing.

But inside was where things got really interesting.

That unmistakable electronic instrument cluster, push-button controls and wonderfully '80s dashboard made the Calais feel seriously futuristic for its time.

Holden summed it up confidently in this original brochure:

“1985 Holden Calais — World Class Luxury.”

More than 40 years later, that dashboard has only become cooler.

Holden Monaro — “The Value Keeps Coming.”

When the Monaro returned in 2001, one of Holden's most famous nameplates was back after a generation away.

And buyers had two very different choices.

The Monaro CV6 paired the new coupe with Holden's 3.8-litre supercharged V6, while the CV8 brought the 5.7-litre Generation III V8.

Leather sports seats, sports suspension, traction control, alloy wheels and that unmistakable coupe shape completed the package.

This original advertising even reminds us what a new Monaro once cost — from $48,710 plus on-road costs.

More than two decades later, the shape has aged remarkably well.

Looking back now, it's incredible to think this was where the Australian Commodore story began.

For many Australians, cars like the EH weren't simply transport. They were the family car, the weekend cruiser, the holiday road-trip machine and part of everyday life.
