VX Commodore Series II – Hyper Mica

It's hard to get much more early-2000s Holden than this.

The VX Series II Commodore SS, finished in striking Hyper Mica, paired its aggressive SS body kit and 17-inch alloys with the 5.7-litre Gen III V8 producing 225kW.

And then there was the interior...

Buyers could take the colour theme even further with optional leather trim designed to complement the exterior paint — giving this Hyper Mica SS an interior that's certainly hard to forget.

Holden described the SS as “the king of the concrete jungle”, and looking back at this original brochure, the whole package captured the attitude of the era perfectly.

Would you rock the matching Hyper Mica interior, or is that a bit too much yellow? 👇

“Ready for Action.”

Back when a Holden was just as likely to be earning its keep on the job as cruising the streets.

This classic circa-1980 Holden commercial showcases the Light Commercial range — the Ute, Panel Van and One Tonner — built for Australians who needed something tough, practical and ready to work.

From the job site to the open road, these old Holden workhorses became part of everyday Australian life — and today, good examples are getting harder and harder to find.

Holden VB Commodore – A New Kind of Car for Australia

When Holden unveiled the VB Commodore in 1978, it marked the beginning of a new era for Australian motoring.

Replacing the long-running Kingswood, the VB introduced a more modern, European-inspired design while still delivering the practicality Australians expected. At the top of the range sat the luxurious SL/E, complete with premium trim, generous equipment and one of the most memorable interiors of the era.

The bold red SL/E interior featured in this original brochure perfectly captures late-1970s Holden styling. It's a look that's unmistakably of its time—and one that enthusiasts still love today.

Holden called it "A New Kind of Car for Australia," and it would become the foundation for one of the most successful nameplates in Australian automotive history.

What colour would you choose today—the striking red SL/E interior, or something a little more understated? 👇

“What separates Men from Boys is not Age, but Attitude.”

Race Bred.

This original VT HSV Clubsport & Clubsport R8 brochure takes us straight back to an era when HSV's connection with Australian touring car racing was front and centre.

With the Holden Racing Team machine dominating the background and the bright red Clubsport taking centre stage, HSV wasn't shy about where the inspiration came from.

The VT generation would become one of the most recognisable eras of HSV, and the Clubsport and R8 were right at the heart of it.

Nearly three decades later, this brochure still looks tough.

What was your favourite HSV from the VT era? 👇

1972 Holden Colours – Which One Would You Choose?

Before online configurators and paint sample websites, this was how Australians chose the colour of their brand-new Holden.

This original February 1972 Holden Exterior Colours chart showcases the factory paint options available across the Holden range, including the HQ Holden, New LJ Torana, Monaro, Kingswood and Belmont.

From timeless favourites like Salamanca Red, Glacier White and Frost Blue, to unmistakably '70s colours such as The Lone O'Ranger, Strike Me Pink and Lime Green, Holden wasn't afraid to make a statement.

Nearly 55 years later, many of these original colours are still among the most recognisable in Australian motoring history.

If you were walking into your local Holden dealer in 1972, which colour would you be ordering on your new HQ or LJ Torana? 👇

“We Saved the Best for Last.”

Released in 1990, the VN Commodore SS Group A was Holden’s final Group A homologation special—and one of the most distinctive Commodores ever built.

Finished in unmistakable Durif Red, it combined aggressive styling, V8 performance and genuine motorsport purpose. Even decades later, the VN Group A remains a car that divides opinion on its looks but commands enormous respect for what it represents.

Holden’s poster said it best:

“We saved the best for last.”

"The Revolution Continues."

When Holden unveiled the VC Commodore, it proved the Commodore revolution was far from over.

Building on the success of the original VB the VC SLE refined Holden's luxury sedan with updated styling, improved comfort and the choice of smooth six-cylinder or powerful V8 performance. It was a car designed to deliver Australian practicality with a touch of prestige.

This classic TV commercial captured Holden's confidence in the Commodore's future—and for many Australians, it was the beginning of a lifelong love affair with the badge.

There was a time when you'd pull into the local car yard and see a Monaro sitting up on the ramps, bonnet open, ready to steal the show. Chrome, stance and proper V8 attitude—no gimmicks needed.
