Weekly Fishing Report | 1st April 2026

📸 Dakota Mason with a Southern Bluefin Tuna caught on GT Fishing Charters

Here’s what was biting and where.

West Coast:
Salmon fishing along some of the surf beaches has been excellent this week. Salmon to 4Kg have been reported at Talia and Locks Well. Silver and Pilchard pattern metal lures or Salted Pilchard baits were the most successful.
Venus, Streaky and Elliston have all had some good bag limits of King George Whiting caught on Prawn or Cockle baits.
Squid numbers in Elliston are on the improve, but they are still a bit quiet in the other bays.
Garfish, Tommys, Snook and Silver Trevally have been reported in good numbers in Venus and Streaky, along with a few nice sized Blue Spot Flathead starting to appear.
Big Blue Swimmer Crabs have been caught from the Streaky Bay Jetty in good numbers.

Coffin Bay:
King George Whiting to 36cm have been caught in decent numbers inside Coffin Bay. Please remember that Coffin Bay and Farm Beach are within the Spencer Gulf fishery, so the bag limit for King George Whiting is still 5 per person, per day(Boat limit 15).
Snook, Gummy Sharks, Flathead, Salmon and a few small sized squid have all been reported in the bay. The best spots all seem to be close to town in the channels and around the Brothers.
Farm Beach has been good for King George Whiting to 38cm, Squid, Salmon, Silver Trevally, Garfish and Snook.
Offshore continues to be excellent for Nannygai to 55cm, Swallowtail, Queen Snapper, Gummy and School Sharks and a few other reef species.
Tuna reports are coming from everywhere out from Coffins. Best reports have been from Sir Isaacs to Reef Head and around Rocky and Greenly Islands.

Port Lincoln:
King George Whiting to 47cm have been caught in Proper Bay, Boston Bay and around the town Jetty in good numbers. Fresh Squid or prawn baits fished around the high tide until sunset have been the best times. Snook, Salmon, Tommys, Silver Trevally and Garfish have been reported around the bays and jetties as well.
Trumpeters have been a problem in a few areas this week. There is not much you can do other than move, or keep a few for crab bait.
Blue Swimmer Crabs continue to be caught in good numbers in all of the usual spots around the bays.
Squid have been on the smaller side this week, but there have been plenty caught on smaller, bright coloured jigs. The Town Jetty and Louth Bay have been the best spots.
The Yellowfin Whiting have gone quiet again, but should be back with the bigger tides around Easter.
Sleaford to Wanna has produced some good Salmon this week. Fish to 3.5Kg were caught on Salted Pilchards and Slingshot lures.
Offshore fishing has been good for Nannygai, Queen Snapper, Gummy Sharks and a few Tuna. Between Thistle and Williams Islands seems to be the better spot for catching reef species, Out towards Low Rocks and the Neptunes is where the Tuna have been found.

Tumby Bay:
King George Whiting to 50cm, Squid, Salmon, Snook to 80cm, and Flathead to 45cm were reported at the Group this week. The northern end seems to be fishing better than the southern end at the moment, but there are fish around most of the Islands.
The Tumby jetty has produced a few squid, King George Whiting and Tommys this week.

Port Neill:
King George Whiting to 44cm, Snook, Garfish and some nice Yellowfin Whiting were caught by boaties and shore based anglers late in the afternoons.

Weekly Fishing Report | 18th March 2026

📸 Southern Blue Fin Tuna caught recently on GT Fishing Charters

Here’s what was biting and where.

West Coast-
King George Whiting to 38cm have been reported in Venus & Streaky Bays. Goolwa Cockles and Prawns were the best baits when used with a bit of good berley. There were also some good Garfish, Tommys, Snook and Salmon Trout reported.
Flathead numbers are improving along the sandy beaches in all of the bays. Soft plastics fished slowly along the bottom have accounted for some 50cm plus Flatties over the last couple of weeks.
Most surf beaches are holding Salmon to 3Kg and there are still plenty of Gummy and School Sharks being caught after dark on Salmon or Snook baits.
Offshore Has seen some big Nannygai caught around reefs and Islands by boaties bottom bouncing with jigs and baits. Tuna have been a bit harder to locate, but there are still some around between 5 and 18Kg.

Coffin Bay –
King George Whiting to 36cm have been reported around the ledge, Dutton Bay and out amongst the leases. Berley is essential, as it seems is fishing the run in tide. Cockles or Squid strips have been the best baits.
Flathead, Snook, Garfish, Tommys, Gummy Sharks and a few Squid were also reported inside Coffin Bay.
Farm Beach has been fishing very well this week (when the wind calmed down). King George Whiting to 41cm, Bluespot Flathead to 60cm, Garfish, Salmon, and a few Blue Swimmer Crabs were reported by boaties. Squid were caught while drifting around the weedbeds between Farm Beach and Morgans Landing.
The offshore fishing was very good on the few days when boaties managed to venture offshore. Nannygai to 60cm, Gummy Sharks, Queen Snapper to 70cm, and a variety of other reef fish were caught on jigs and baits. Tuna seem to have moved away from the coast. Reports have mainly come from around Rocky Island and out on the far side of Krawse Rock. In closer, there is a lot of cool, green water being reported, which seems to have made the Tuna venture further offshore.

Port Lincoln-.
Blue Swimmer Crabs continue to be harvested by boaties between the Wharf and North Shields. They are still full of meat and well above the minimum size limit.
King George Whiting have been tough inside the bays. They are there, but most anglers report that they had to move multiple times to catch their bag limit. Whiting to 53cm have been caught locally, so if you find some, they should be well over the minimum size. Local prawns and local berley fished during the last of the incoming tide was the most successful.
Around the bays there are some big Snook being caught on trolled minnows and small metal slugs, Silver Trevally, Garfish, Tommys and a few Bluespot Flathead being caught.
Squid numbers continue to improve. Bright coloured jigs fished late afternoon or very early in the morning have accounted for some good squid from the local jetties and rocky points.
Yellowfin Whiting have been caught in some good numbers over the last few weeks. Fresh baits or surface lures fished during an incoming tide have accounted for some Yellowfin up to 40cm have been reported, although most are in the 24-30cm bracket.
Sleaford to Wanna has produced some nice Salmon to 4Kg this week. Malosi metal lures were used to good effect by one angler who landed a dozen or so good Salmon.
Offshore has produced a few smaller Tuna, Nannygai to 50cm, Gummy Sharks to 120cm and a few nice Queen Snapper. The colder green water doesn’t seem to have come east as yet, so hopefully it stays away for the Port Lincoln Tuna Classic this weekend.

Tumby Bay-.
Boaties that went out to the group managed to catch some good fish this week. King George Whiting to 50cm, Snook to 80cm, Squid, Garfish and some big Salmon were reported. Local berley and prawns or squid baits were the most successful when fished during the run in tide.
Yellowfin Whiting were reported in good numbers between Tumby and Cowell on worms, clickers and surface lures.
Around Tumby, there were a few good reports of Squid, Garfish Tommys and King George Whiting from the shore and by boaties.

Port Neill-
King George and Yellowfin Whiting have bene reported this week. Shore based anglers have been doing well during the higher incoming tides earlier this week.
There were a few Squid, Garfish and Tommies caught from the jetty late in the afternoon.

📸 Marlie Fauser with his first Blue Tuna

Inside the bays the reports continue to be good for King George Whiting to 35cm, Silver Trevally, Snook, Garfish and Tommys.
Squid are still on the improve. Using small, bright coloured jigs like the Yamash*ta EGI-OH F in pink, orange or white has been successful.

Farm Beach had King George Whiting to 39cm, Garfish, Squid and Tommys. Those venturing out into 10-20 meters of water caught some nice Gummy Sharks and a few Nannygai.
Offshore reports said that there were Bluefin Tuna to 15Kg, Nannygai, Queen Snapper and some nice Gummy Sharks caught drifting around reefs between Sir Isaacs and Reef Head and around the offshore reefs.
Kingfish and Samsonfish were caught around the outer Islands on JT jigs.

Port Lincoln:
King George Whiting to 48cm have been reported around Thistle and Taylors Islands. Local Prawn or pilchard baits were the most successful. Other good spots to try for a few King George Whiting have been the town jetty, around the Monument, Boston Island and Louth Bay. Fishing around the high tides or dusk have been the better times. Trolling lures around many parts of the bays has been good for Snook to 80cm, Salmon, Silver Trevally, Tommys, Long Finned Pike and the odd protected Snapper. Kingfish to 60cm have been caught from the town jetty, there are a few bigger ones starting to appear around the structures as well.
Squid continue to improve. Small, bright jigs have been successful early and late in the day.
Blue Swimmer Crab numbers continue to improve. The best area seems to be around the town jetty or up in Louth Bay.
Bluefin Tuna have been reported around the bottom of Thistle Island, Williams Island and out towards the Cabbage Patch.

Tumby Bay:
King George Whiting to 49cm were reported around the Islands on squid strips and prawns. Snook, Silver Trevally, Squid, Salmon and Tommys were also caught in the afternoons.
In Tumby, the Marina channel has been fishing well for Tommys, Salmon Trout and Silver Trevally. The Jetty has produced a few Squid, Tommys and Garfish late in the afternoon.

Port Neill:
King George Whiting to 39cm have been reported by boaties fishing Squid strips late in the afternoon. Garfish, Silver Trevally, Snook and Tommys were also reported by those who fished until after sunset.
