🏁 IMPORTANT UPDATE – WORKING WITH CHILDREN CHECKS 🏁

Mt Barker Speedway Club would like to make all our officials, volunteers and members aware of Speedway Australia’s new Safeguarding Children and Young People Policy.

The safety and wellbeing of children and young people involved in our sport is extremely important, and these changes are being introduced to help create a safer environment for everyone.

📅 Important Dates:

🟡 1 November 2026 – Implementation of the new policy begins.

🟡 1 March 2027 – Mandatory compliance for all Stewards and Scrutineers, along with Marshals and other officials whose roles involve direct or indirect contact with children or vulnerable people.

✅ What does this mean for our club?

Officials and volunteers who fall within these requirements will need to hold a current and valid Working With Children Check (WWCC), or the relevant equivalent, in accordance with applicable legislation.

We encourage all our volunteers and officials to familiarise themselves with these changes and begin organising their checks where required.

Our club relies heavily on our wonderful volunteers, and we appreciate everyone’s cooperation as we work towards meeting these new requirements.

💙 Keeping our young drivers, families and future generations safe is everyone’s responsibility.

PRACTICE DAY UPDATE - DATE CHANGE

Working alongside Mount Barker Speedway, we want to give our local drivers the opportunity to support their event while still getting some valuable practice laps in before our season gets underway!

With this in mind, we’ve moved our practice day to Sunday, 8 November, from 12pm–3pm.

🐝 BUSY BEE | 9am – 12pm
🏎️ PRACTICE | 1pm – 4pm
🍔 BBQ LUNCH | Around 12am

We’ll kick off the day with a Busy Bee to get the club ready for the season, followed by a BBQ lunch before practice begins.

We’d love to see as many members as possible come down, lend a hand and help get us ready for another big season at Albany Speedway!

Hey everyone! 🏁

Netti has brought an important rule to our attention, and we want to make sure all our junior families are aware of it.

Under Rule 2.2.7, all Junior Licence holders must have a parent or guardian who holds a valid Annual Licence. Please note that a One Day Licence does not meet this requirement.

If you need to obtain an Annual Licence, Speedway Australia offers a First Time Annual Licence starting from $140, valid for 365 days. You can find it in the app.

This licence is available to anyone aged 12+ and includes insurance and national eligibility.

Please take a moment to review the information below and ensure you meet these requirements before our first race meeting.

Thanks to Netti for bringing this to our attention! 😊🏁
