This VY LS1 came into the shop needing some urgent preventive maintenance. The car was suffering from low oil pressure when hot, which we traced back to the all so common Oil Pump failure.

The customer had been thinking of doing a camshaft upgrade but couldn't quite swing the budget for a full cam package just yet. Since we already had the front cover & sump stripped down to fix the oil pump oring we decided to lend a hand and help him out by slipping a cam in while we were in there.

We chose the Brian Tooley Racing (BTR) Stage 2 Truck NSR Camshaft.

When we say "slap it in and send it," this is the exact cam we mean. Because it’s an NSR (No Springs Required) profile, it doesn't require upgraded valve springs or aftermarket pushrods. It keeps the entry cost down to the absolute minimum while delivering a fantastic result, a super flat torque curve, and that classic lopy idle everyone wants.

Not everyone has the budget to go completely all-in from day one, and this BTR NSR cam is the ultimate proof that you can still get great performance and a killer sound without breaking the bank.
