Here’s a couple of maintenance tips from your local mechanic at Top Choice 🤫Mechanical Repairs. The first photo is just to make people aware that when you check your maintenance free battery even though it may have a green cell showing, it only rates one cell of 6! Therfore ,you can have a failing battery even if the green signal is showing .The printouts show that in the photo ,So ,if you’re after a free battery check,by all means call in; if your battery bogs down a little bit when the car is starting ,also if there’s some frosting on terminals on the battery ,these signs are usually an indicator the battery is failing.
🚗The second photo is statistical regarding modern engines and timing chains. Once upon a time engine timing belts were the major mechanical valve and crankshaft alignment systems which everyone fears firstly the cost of replacement and secondly because of potential major engine damage if they weren’t replaced. However the new normal is becoming timing chains again as the main drive. The difference with timing chains is that they have oil fed mechanical components ,and often,the guides and tensioners fail due to lack of regular maintenance !These replacements of chains and guides are major requiring engine disassembly and high cost .This is merely a reminder that in the more modern engines ,critical regular oil changes are needed,to save these very expensive timing chain repairs 😊stay safe all the best the team at Top Choice Mechanical Repairs

TIMES HAVE CHANGED-BASIC RULES STILL REMAIN-
Vehicle maintenance is still up to the vehicle owners.
Strangely, the Victorian Govenment do not see fit to have vehicles annually checked by law,to help protect all road users.(Annual (Basic tyres,lights,brakes,steering and wipers checks, as in NSW).Whilst vehicles have become more crash safe,these days ,the Government in general , sees speed , alcohol and drugs and careless driving , as the most common causes of road trauma!
