Changes to COVID-19 requirements for VicRoads light vehicle drive tests
Dear Solaiman Pakzad,
There are changes to testing and vaccine requirements for driving instructors and customers participating in VicRoads light vehicle drive tests.
Drive tests
When accompanying a customer for a VicRoads drive test appointment booked from 20 December 2021, a driving instructor must be either fully vaccinated or must provide evidence from a PCR COVID-19 testing site of a negative test taken within 72 hours of their test appointment.
Customers who book a drive test from 20 December 2021 must also be either fully vaccinated or must provide evidence from a PCR COVID-19 testing site of a negative test taken within 72 hours of their appointment.
Customers and driving instructors participating in a drive test appointment that was booked prior to 20 December (even if the test occurs after 20 December) are not subject to these new requirements. However, they must still comply with our COVIDSafe measures which includes wearing a face mask during the drive test.
More information can be found on the VicRoads COVID-19 update for industry partners webpage.
Driving lessons
Students are not required by the pandemic orders to provide their vaccination status or return a negative test in order to participate in lessons.
Masks must still be worn by driving instructors and students.
There are limited circumstances where an employer may require their employees to be vaccinated. You can find more information on the Fair Work Ombudsman’s COVID-19 vaccinations and the workplace website.
Stay safe,
CPVV
