Ceramic coating protects your paint, but it has limits.
Here are 4 things to understand before choosing your protection 👇
1️⃣ It won’t stop stone chips.
Ceramic coating doesn’t provide the cushioning needed to absorb stones hitting your paint. If stone chips are your main concern, consider paint protection film (PPF).
2️⃣ It doesn’t make your car scratch-proof.
Poor washing, dirty cloths and automatic brush washes can still leave swirl marks and scratches. Safe washing habits still matter after coating.
3️⃣ It won’t fix existing damage.
A coating won’t remove scratches, stone chips or swirl marks. Paint correction may be needed beforehand to improve the finish.
4️⃣ Bird droppings still need removing promptly.
A coated car still needs care. Leaving bird droppings, bugs or other contamination sitting on the surface can cause problems—even with a coating.
So what is ceramic coating good for?
Enhancing gloss, providing water repellency and making regular cleaning easier.
For a physical barrier against stone chips and light abrasion, PPF is the option to discuss. You can also combine PPF and a compatible coating.
The best choice starts with knowing what you want protection from.
