Alexandra Home, South Yarra, a confident black and concrete infill nestled between period neighbours.
Introducing Alexandra Home, our latest project in South Yarra, a considered response to a heritage streetscape that doesn't shy away from a contemporary voice.
Sitting confidently between two classic Victorian homes, the home's dark charred-look cladding and pale concrete frame create a striking contrast with its neighbours, while a deep front garden and slatted timber screening soften the transition from street to home.
Inside, the brief called for a highly functional home: three bedrooms, a large open-plan kitchen, living and dining space designed for everyday life and entertaining, and a separate study tucked away for quiet, focused work. A rooftop terrace crowns the home, offering an a third level of outdoor living with leafy district views over the surrounding tree canopy.
To the rear, a pool and outdoor entertaining area extend the living spaces beyond the walls of the home, blurring the line between indoors and out.
The result is a home that respects its heritage context, offering a fresh, functional and beautifully detailed alternative for modern living in one of Melbourne's most established suburbs.
If you're considering a new build or renovation in a heritage streetscape — we'd love to help you navigate the balance between old and new.

Two homes, one address, zero compromise. Side-by-side living that gives each dwelling its own street presence.
Side-by-side townhouse developments need to feel distinct, private and light-filled, while still reading as a considered whole from the street. Across projects like Garden, Henley and Lynch, we've refined an approach that gives each dwelling its own identity, through material shifts, varied roof forms and carefully staggered massing, while unifying the pair with a shared material palette and landscaped entry sequence.
Clever site planning is the real work here, separating entries, screening sightlines between properties, and orchestrating northern light and cross ventilation so neither home feels like the "second" one. Street-facing fencing, brick and timber screening, and considered garden buffers all do quiet work to protect privacy without shutting the street out.
For builders and developers, side-by-side townhouses remain one of the most efficient ways to unlock underutilised residential sites across Melbourne's inner and bayside suburbs, without sacrificing design quality or resale appeal.

Sunlight, stone and soft curves, this Port Melbourne Kitchen proves a considered material palette can turn a simple skylight into the whole story.
At Evans Home the kitchen was designed to let light do the heavy lifting. A run of angled skylights spills sun across a gently curved ceiling plane, tracking the day from a soft morning glow to full overhead brightness by afternoon, turning the Kitchen into one of the most atmospheric spaces in the home.
Underneath, the material palette stays quiet and tactile. A book-matched Signorino "Austral Dream" natural stone island anchors the room, its warm veining picked up again in the splashback so the whole kitchen reads as one continuous material moment. Light Walnut joinery in Laminex AbsoluteGrain wraps the perimeter cabinetry, offset by a run of Alabaster overheads that keep the upper register soft and recessive. Chevron-laid timber-look flooring in Kustom Timbers' Alta finish ties back to the joinery tone underfoot, while integrated appliances and shadow-line detailing keep every surface clean of visual clutter.
It's a space built on restraint, a handful of honest materials, repeated with intent, and a roofline that does the rest of the talking. Full interior concept and finishes schedule now complete for this project.

A restored Victorian façade unfolds into a rooftop-terraced contemporary home.
A collaboration of design ingenuity and meticulous craftsmanship, a newly completed three-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom residence built by Grace Lewin Construction that redefines modern urban living in Port Melbourne.
What begins as a beautifully restored c.1900 Victorian façade unfolds into a state-of-the-art contemporary home, where every detail has been curated for comfort, performance and enduring style. Wide oak floors, soaring sky-lit ceilings and a refined palette of subtly textured finishes establish a calm, cohesive design language from the moment you enter. The rear open-plan living domain is shaped by clean lines and abundant natural light, anchored by a sculptural stone kitchen island with elegant curved detailing and fully integrated Fisher & Paykel appliances concealed within custom joinery.
A defining feature is the expansive 35 sqm (approx.) rooftop terrace, a rare luxury in this tightly held pocket of Port Melbourne, offering sweeping city views, two walkable skylights that drench the interior below in daylight, and a mains-gas BBQ for long summer evenings.
The ground-floor main suite is a private retreat with a designer ensuite, dual vanities and switch-glass privacy technology, while upstairs two beautifully appointed bedrooms continue the home's elevated design narrative.

Victorian residence reinvented, balancing heritage character with bold modern living.
This home brings contemporary living to one of Port Melbourne's beloved heritage streetscapes, delivering a crafted reinvention of a block-fronted Victorian residence with Progressio.
This transformation balances reverence for the home's historic character with a bold, beautifully resolved modern design language, resulting in a residence that is as unexpectedly spacious as it is meticulously detailed. A broad, light-filled hallway sets the tone with sleek lines, designer lighting and wide limed-oak flooring, while the restored decorative mantle in the primary suite is paired with a luxurious stone-clad ensuite and a fully fitted walk-in robe, an elegant merging of Victorian charm and contemporary indulgence.
Floating timber stairs rise to the upper level, where two generous double bedrooms feature custom built-in joinery and integrated study nooks. A central stone bathroom anchors the space with a large walk-in shower and sculptural soaker tub.
At the heart of the home, polished concrete floors define an open-plan living and dining zone, warmed by a wood-burning fireplace and framed by a premium stone kitchen. Full-height stacking glass sliders dissolve the threshold between inside and out, opening to a private, granite-paved courtyard with a striking concrete bench and built-in BBQ.
This is a confident example of contemporary adaptation, heritage character celebrated and elevated through thoughtful intervention, artisanal craftsmanship and Home By MM's commitment to restrained luxury and enduring materiality.

Osbourne’s gentle curves and effortless flow define this bespoke family home.
Set on a compact site of less than 400 square metres in one of Williamstown's most prestigious streets, Osborne showcases the distinctive craftsmanship and considered design that defines a Home By MM project, delivered with Mancini Made.
The site's tight footprint and proximity to neighbouring boundaries presented real challenges, but through careful planning and efficient site management, we delivered a clean, considered result that preserved the full integrity of the original design intent.
A series of gentle curves carries through the home, most strikingly in the sculptural pool, echoed in arched windows, mirrors and an elegant external spiral staircase. These curved forms sit beautifully against abundant greenery and a palette of unexpected coastal and earthy tones throughout the interior.
Our vision for Osborne was a functional, timeless family residence with a natural sense of flow, a home built to serve its family for years to come. A restrained street façade offers a quiet introduction among distinguished neighbours, while inside, a finely crafted collection of details, including a centrepiece staircase and a contemporary kitchen, reveal the home's true character.
Osborne is a testament to thoughtful design and quality construction: a home realised with precision, care and a genuine understanding of how families live.
