To all the fans and lovers of the Ford Falcon GTHO, and friends of Lot 6.

Our Patron ‘Big’ Al Turner, the man who created and developed the iconic Falcon GTHO past away at his home in Bonita Springs, Florida last night, Wednesday, 3 November. He was 89.

A Tribute to AL - by his Son in Law Peter Dietze

“The beginning of an Era “

My Big AL
I first met “ Mr “Turner when I was a sixteen year old rebel dating his beautiful daughter Lori in 1969. He was a giant in statue like a big bear and with a loud growl to match .
They were heady days indeed.
Time to get my feet off the furniture big time!
He never had to say a word just the stare was penetrating enough
He was busy building The iconic GTHO .
I was busy with Lori!
You knew when he was going to work because all the neighbours windows rattled as he fired up the beast.
He let me drive it once, and only once.
90mph in second gear, then he said calmly,
That’s enough Peter.
Over the years we became very close.
Lori and I sold Ford merchandise at the tracks while Moff
and the Lot 6 team were creating racing history in Australia.
“The Era”
1969 1970 1971
It was all about the racing!

It’s now time to say it’s the
“The end of an era”
So many achievements along the way
My daughters
My Grandchild
a whole new family
He certainly was a unique powerhouse of a man
They certainly broke the mould
A unique Human
Love you Big AL

We would like to share a moment in the coming weeks to celebrate the life of Big Al together. To be announced soon.

Thank you.

We are all very saddened by the passing of John Wynne who was a key team member of the Ford GTHO Lot 6 crew.

Chief Engineer at Lot 6, Ian Stockings, described Wynney as an awesome master craftsman who could perform sheer magic in sheet metal and fabrication. His hand work always looked like it had been machine made. His talent was extraordinary and seemed to have no limits in all aspects of race car build and preparation AND, he was a fantastic person for whom all of us had just the greatest respect and affection for.

John had been working at Ford Australia in Geelong and was recommended to Al Turner as a potentially valuable addition to the new racing team. John had already built a reputation manufacturing JMW racing cars with his then late father and was truly a powerhouse of knowledge and wisdom in all things on car preparation, and mentor to those of us younger that needed his wise counsel.

On behalf of the Lot 6 crew we extend our sincere condolences to the Wynne family on their sad loss.

To all Friends of Lot 6
We are very sad to hear of the passing away of one of our original directors The amazing passionate Rod Barrett .
He was what I would call a gentleman of the Motorsport industry a very rare breed .

Director of FPV Rod also took up the mantle of Director of the Ford GTHO Lot 6 Foundation
His speech at our official launch
With president of the Ford Motor company Minister of Education and representatives of both The Kangan institute and the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology R M I T
was inspirational and solidified our ambitious goals .

My sincere condolences to all his family and friends
He will truly be missed
Love you Rob
Thanks 🙏
