Project 3RS.

This work of art Porsche 911 992 GT3 RS has definitely seen better days. Can you believe it has only done 1759 km's and is practically brand new. The engine has literally just finished being run in. One person's loss is another's gain.

This car can never go back on the road again as it's a stat write off so it will become a track weapon instead. Maybe it will end up with an ES motors twin turbo kit on it 😁

So we will be helping out here with the electrical and software side of things. Currently working on a plan to remove/disable the airbag system as it won't need those anymore. But these modern cars have become a bit complex and along with SFD2 protections make it harder to make any changes to the vehicle. But we like a challenge and I'm sure we will overcome this one. It will also need a new headlight and a few more modules here and there but soon enough it should be back up and running.

So does the engine start?

Last week 92% voted yes. I guess you'll have to watch the video at the end to see if it does 🤔

Part 3 with our dead Porsche Taycan Turbo.
We managed to get power to where we needed it to be and got the frunk open to access the 12v battery. This has not been open for about a year. This is good because we could safely start charging the 12v lithium battery and program the 2 brand new keys from Germany.
Now that the keys are programmed to the car and the car locks/unlocks and ignition turns on (only when the charger is on it), we know we have achieved what we wanted.
Next hurdle is getting a new 12v lithium battery as this is dead and probably not repairable, and a new battery is over $3000 and about a 10 week wait. We may have found anothe r12v lithium battery that will do the job temporarily.
The main thing to see next is what happens when we have a working 12v battery and what the condition of the HV battery is, will it take any charge and come to life or is that dead, let's see.

Part 2 with our dead Porsche Taycan Turbo

Just a quick recap on whats wrong with this thing.
- 12 volt battery is dead
- Original keys are lost
- Can't open frunk to get access to the 12v battery to charge it
- Frunk emergency release wont work without original keys
- HV system offline so can't help with the 12v battery
- It has not moved or been powered on for almost a year

We just got 2 brand new keys from Germany and now time to program them to the car. We managed to get the 12 volt system energised so we had limited comms with the car, but its better than nothing.

First attempt at commisioning the immobiliser for the new keys the server decided to drop dead on us. An hour later when it came online again and doing it again, the car decides it doesn't want to read them to program them even though it could read them to do the immobiliser.

End result is more dismantling needed to get to the key coil reader and try again. We will leave that for part 3.

But at least we got some pretty good progress with it 😃

We love working on the Porsche 911's as they are nothing but pure quality. Whether its a 996, 997, 991.1, 991.2, 992.1 or a 992.2, we always have a few little things up our sleeve to enhance the owners driving experience.

We got to play with this beautiful 992.1 Carrera S Coupe to update and activate the following on it including
✅ PCM firmware update to the latest version
✅ Latest Porsche navigation maps updated
✅ Lane keep assist
✅ Rear cross traffic alert
✅ Locking of the vehicle with the engine running (so you can leave it unattended)
✅ Remotely activated with our send away kit

No matter where you are in Australia, we can send out a laptop kit which has everything in it for us to do our activations remotely. All you need to is turn the laptop on, connect it to wifi and then plug in our devices while you relax and watch us do our thing.

Speaking of 911's, we have some interesting ones to look at in the near future including a crash damaged 992 GT3 RS which we will be able to have a really good look at it to see what we can do to it and a fire damaged 992 Turbo which will need bringing back to life too.

We are slowly working on bringing this dead Porsche Taycan Turbo back to life.
There are a few hurdles to jump and it will take some time to get it going, but here's part 1 of our little mini series and how we had to adapt our plan to take this one on.
Just for a bit of background info on what's wrong with it, the main electric drive battery is dead, the 12v battery is dead and its keys are missing. It hasn't moved from this spot in over a year.
With no keys or 12v power available there is no way to get into the frunk, so the factory designed back up frunk release doesn't work in our situation.
We have to figure out how we can get to the 12v battery to get some charge on the battery (if not completely dead but this is for another video) to get past the first hurdle.
Talk about a bit of a challenge, but we like these kind of challenges.

We recently had this beautiful Audi R8 around for some work and we got to do the following on it including
✅ Australian region conversion for full functionality here
✅ MMI firmware updated to the latest version
✅ Virtual cockpit firmware updated
✅ Latest 2026 navigation maps loaded
✅ Android Auto & Apple CarPlay activated
✅ Google earth activated

This is probably one of the highest spec'd R8"s we have seen which has matrix laser headlights and carbon everywhere, all over the engine bay and even the petrol cap, can't say I've seen this before. Plus the white with black carbon looks absolutely tough. What a beast this thing is.

So overall everything is working perfectly well, just as if it was an aussie delivered. We have region converted heaps of these now so if your R8 doesn't function in Australia, feel free to get in touch.

We had this beautiful Audi RS3 8Y come to us as it did not have wireless Android Auto from the factory. A lot of 2022 models do not have it and this is something we can enable.

Full updates carried out to the MMI to update it to version 4398 along with updates to other modules which fixes the wireless drop outs when driving through our toll points (he never had this problem) as well as giving Waze, Google & Apple maps navigation directions on the HUD and virtual cockpit.

Updates are carried out with our Audi server access and written to the VIN so there are no issues with warranty.

Audi RS3 8Y software update for the Onboard Communications Unit and the MMI which will give it navigation directions from CarPlay & Android Auto when using Waze, Google or Apple maps. The arrows and distances are displayed on your Virtual Cockpit and Head-up Display. This also enables wireless Android Auto for the earlier 8Ys that never had it from the factory.

This also fixes the issue with the 5 GHz wifi band so when you are driving through toll points so your wireless CarPlay or Android Auto doesn't cut out.

It's a 3 to 4 hour update as there are multiple modules that need to be updated and it can be a 3 step process meaning the updates have to be done one by one before the next one can be done.

This is a factory OEM update which is written to your VIN officially with our account. There are no warranty issues when it is carried out officially.

These updates are available for all MQBevo (A3 & Q3) and MLBevo (A4/5/6, Q7/8) variants. We can also enable this for the Porsche Cayenne models with a PCM6 system with our Porsche PPN account.

Due to the time it takes to do these updates and the protocol needed, it can only be done in person.
