All Cars will have a logbook when sold new.
In the logbook there will be a series of services required to maintain the maximum efficiency of the vehicle as recommended by the car’s manufacturer at time or kilometer intervals.
The requirements of the logbook service as listed by the manufacturer will vary dependent on the make and model of the car.
The time or kilometer period required for logbook servicing can vary however it is good practice to service your vehicle every 10,000 kilometers to ensure peak performance whist also reducing the risk of breakdown and premature engine wear.
Each log book is unique to the make and model of the car it comes with, and provides important information about the critical service requirements for your car.
These service requirements are listed in a specific order to ensure the right services are completed over the course of the car’s warranty.
Log book services can involve the following:
Safety checks specific to your vehicle
Checking and replacing fluids at the manufacturer’s recommended interval
Regular general services
Repairs or replacement any needed parts
Do I have to use my original car dealer for the log book service?
It is a common misconception that a car owner must have their car serviced from the dealership where they purchased in order to maintain their warranty.
Mainly logbook services can be done qualified registered mechanic
The ACCC Australian Competition & Consumer Commission has stated that your car can be serviced by the mechanic of your choice, as long as the mechanic is qualified for the service.

What's the difference between Basic and Logbook Services?
Basic car service
Can also be called a ‘minor’ or ‘general’ service
Includes replacing just the engine oil and oil filter
There are also a number of checks involved that looks at the under the body of the car and under the bonnet of the car as well as fluids, brakes, tyres and operation of lighting system.
Logbook service
Is a series of scheduled services that are recommended by the car’s manufacturer at a particular time or kilometer intervals
Each logbook service inclusions vary depending on a car’s make and model
The general rule of thumb is servicing your car every 6 months or 10,000kms, whatever comes first
