🔰⚡️MK1 LOTUS TWIN CAM - BDG UPDATE⚡️🔰
Once the original Lotus twin cam engine removed and the new BDG offered up into position, it was quickly established that this job was going to grow arms & legs real quick…
After in-depth conversations with the customer, we both agreed to go the whole hog to give under the bonnet the treatment it deserves to showcase the BDG in an immaculate clean engine bay.
Over 120 holes, between factory and previous owners were plated & welded. Engine bay fully re-wired to relocate/hide looms, new components fitted such as electric thermo fan controller, electronic ignition module. All hidden to give a clean minimalistic looking bay that presents well.
The engine bay was then fully dry-built and fabricated to house new components such as engine oil cooler & line plumbing, period look alloy radiator, slimline Tilton reservoirs & bulkhead pass through, even down to routing the throttle cables exact location. All components were then removed before full engine bay was painted.
Once the engine had been reinstalled multiple other jobs were carried out such as heat shield protection, washer bottle relocation and all new brake & clutch plumbing. After further talks with the customer, we have decided to have the stainless steel Simpson exhaust manifold ceramic coated black to help retain some heat, but more for aesthetics so it keeps the fresh look.
A massive thank you goes out to the customer for letting me undertake this project with such freedom around my vision for how the completed project would look. It might be far from original…but I feel these kind of modifications can be carried out with class and elegance that even a purest can respect.
More updates & videos on this project to follow, including some more mechanical upgrades.
As always…. -UP 👀 😮💨
