🏁⚡️SNOWY RIVER SPRINT⚡️🏁
At the weekend we took a trip down to Lakes Entrance, Victoria for the third round of the Australian Tarmac Championship. We had two cars running, Jono & Brad in the Millington MK2 and Dane & Darragh in the Duratec MK2.
For Dane & Darragh: A flawless and consistent drive saw the boys consistently gain pace throughout the weekend. Having a push on where needed and coming away with a top 10 finish and very well respected 9th outright. The boys would also be first on the scene to a crash/roll to the competing team in front (crew ok) completely blocking the road, amazing skill and reaction from Dane for getting though at rally pace, still scratching our heads how you pulled it off! Sunday afternoon would see the boys class winners 🏆
Jono & Brad: Saturday morning would see the boys parked up mid stage with a complete throttle servo failure, they re-joined at lunch after a 5 minute fix. The plan was to use the rest of the day as testing and were consistently in the top 3 for every stage. Sundays plan was to have a crack & put in some stage times & that’s exactly what was done showing the pace of the boys with stage winning pace. Sunday afternoon approximately 3km from the end of the stage the car developed a misfire, Jono continued to push the car hard home only losing 1.2 seconds and taking 2nd fastest stage time. After a quick inspection, an ignition coil had failed and caused an issue to the plug. The final 2 stages were a 37km run out the road & then back. Our spare coils were not the identical brand for brand replacement with slight discrepancies, so the decision was made not to risk it & to put her in the trailer to protect the engine as unfortunately there was no rally result to be had.
Massive thank you to all the boys in the team! Solid effort and it doesn’t go unnoticed! Dan, Rian, Drew, Bryn, Brad & Darragh! Bandit was with us as per usual, when emotions were running high…he was constant with his s**t stirring and very questionable timing…so he is now officially on probation 😂 A massive thank you to Jono & Dane!
It’s a very new and foreign feeling for us having a DNF, and leaves a somber feeling, but with fire in the belly to bounce back to the usual extremely high standards we only know. For some crews in this game, DNF’s are very common, but not for us! We’ll go again! ⚡️💪
