This 2002 Nissan Skyline GT-R M-Spec Nür just sold for $442,000 on Bring a Trailer — and it's not hard to see why. Finished in the legendary Millennium Jade paint, one of only 144 M-Spec Nürs ever built in this color, the car carries a Nismo R2 upgrade over its factory RB26DETT twin-turbo six, a swap reputed to push output well past 500 horsepower. Nissan famously underrated this engine from the factory at 276 hp to satisfy a gentlemen's agreement between Japanese automakers — everyone in the JDM world knew it made more. Now, decades later, that same "lied-about" engine is helping push R34 values into supercar territory.

This isn't a one-off. R34 GT-R values have been climbing steadily since the model became eligible for U.S. import under the 25-year rule, and the rarest specs — like this M-Spec Nür — are now trading in the same bracket as brand-new six-figure performance cars.

The forbidden fruit finally got its flowers.
