Walking to retrieve my students wheelchair from her back patio. I went into protective mode to find a man sitting in it.

He read my mind. With a friendly smirk he stated “This is my wheelchair. Hers is on the ramp. I’m the builder doing the renovations. I built this ramp.”
He continued “…do you remember me?”

My eyes and mind trying to put all the pieces of this fragmented puzzle together.

He helped me “I was your first wheelchair student with your modifications in your car. Andrew McLiesh.”

WOW …the puzzles 🧩 clicked togather…April 2024…Sarina…wickedly scary legend reverse parallel parker with the hand controls!

So inspiring to see him. I love his work ethics. His strong purpose in life and quality of his work as we stood on his incredible quality ramp.

He does so much more ….including modifications to vehicles.

This meeting made my day!!

Out of the blue I received a text. “ … can I do a pretest lesson and hire your car next week?”

It had been over twelve months since I had seen her in lesson. And many we did have. From zero hours clunking in quiet streets in the manual to test ready standard.

I created space for it to happen as I knew this is her bridge to independence.

She presented a total nervous mess the hour before her driving test. “ I am not ready. …..” followed by tears, snot and hyperventilation as her whole body shook collapsing over the steering wheel.

Rared by a system with an expiration date.

She was totally owned by her miss perceptions and chitta in her head.

My lessons are backed with substance, steeped in reality. Forever expanding and eternal.

Like a mother hen with her little chick safe under my wing. I gave it not an ounce, handing her tissues to mop up the spillage.

With my hand on her shoulder I commanded. “ …you know how to drive this car!
Catch your breath…
….adjust the seat, the three mirrors,
indicate, observations. Lets go!”

The body memory surfaced and so did the verbal dialoguing of the driving process.

Once my words shadowed her driving, now owned by hers.

I got out at the transport department. The assessor got in and she continued.

Ticking all the boxes she passed her driving test!!

I took her photo. This time her tears were of joy!

She started driving as a child. Now free to live her adult life.

With licence in hand, the next day she drove herself to her brand new job.
