Ford 221 2v XP coupe. This customer was complaining about the drivability of his vehicle. When we pulled the engine down we found the cam was a 35 75 mechanical with hydraulic lifters fitted this would of made the cam even larger 40 80 or so. Very little compression. The engine was already at .040 pistons the bore looked ok but when measured up it had over .006 piston to bore clearance.
We fully reconditioned the engine using .060 pistons. Mild tweaked 25 65 cam. Bought the piston to zero to deck. Fiited harden ex valve seats etc etc. Will have it running mid next week and expect to have much better drivability and perform better. Enjoy working on these oldies. All work except camshaft done in house.

Been doing more European stuff. The latest is Audi A4 CDNC 2.0 turbo petrol. Full service history blown number 3 piston ring land out. Its only done 102 000 klms. Notice how they locate harmonic balancer on.

Been doing a few of these. Toyota Landruiser 1HZ 100 series fitted with a aftermarket turbo. We upgraded the piston and Conrods. These pistons are coated on the skirt and crown armour groove top ring. The pins are 2mm larger. The fuel pump was fitted with a boost compensator. Tuned to 14 psi. Also fitted a Redarc gauge that has three readings boost, egt and metal temp. This vehicle is from central Qld. We ran the engine in for the customer who is mega happy with the performance. The last couple of weeks we have been working on this Ford Barra 4.0L engine. It came in blown up. It had been running 30 psi boost on factory conrods. The high boost bent conrods and through number 6 conrod and piston out of the block.
During the reconditioning process we have added forged pistons and H beamconrods, main and head studs. Main girdle. Billet oil pump gears. Larger valve springs. ANDRA approved harmonic balancer, Blueprint and balance. Could of done much more, keeping within Customers budget. We have the engine sitting back into the vehicle, early next week this beast should be running. Its in a ute, going to be fun going on the test drive.

These are photos of a failed oil pump from a P5AT 3.2L engine fitted into the Ford Ranger and Mazda BT50. Same oil pump P4AT 2.2L engine.
Our fully reconditioned engine all have the modified oil pump. Basically its a spur gear oil pump rather than the vane style. This modified pump will have a longer life with no problems picking up oil pressure after a oil change. The factory pump has less the 130 000 klms.
