The Final Holden Monaro Coupe – HX "Limited Edition" (Released September 1976)
While not its own distinct generation, September 1976 saw the emotional release of the Holden Limited Edition (LE) Coupe.
Utilizing the legendary dual-headlight Monaro HJ/HX body shell, Holden built just 580 units at the Pagewood plant. It explicitly dropped the "Monaro" badge, simply being called the Holden Limited Edition, to clear out the remaining two-door bodies as consumer tastes shifted.
It came standard in an iconic metallic LeMans Red with gold pinstripes, a plush red velour interior, and a 308 cubic-inch V8.
And whilst we don't have one of these rare sights on display currently we still had to let Rory say "hip hip hooray" 🦁
