* ATTENTION MECHANICS IN THE NEWCASTLE/HUNTER REGION *
Due to a recent post being brought to my attention , I thought I’d address the situation.
This is Chris don’t be like Chris.
Chris bought a used truck from one of my previous customers, a 1989 model with over a million kms on it.
On the 9th of November 2021 the previous owner had asked me to diagnose an issue with the truck pulling to the right under braking. On inspection I found a seized wheel cylinder on the L/H front wheel. I removed both cylinders to be professional overhauled.
Once the job was done the truck went back to work and had no issues.
Now I got contacted by chris a few days ago telling me the brakes were locking up. Months after the repairs.
I went out on Saturday to check over the truck ( free of charge) and found that the repairs I had done 3 months ago had nothing to do with this current fault.
Chris then started telling me that it was my fault and that I was to fix the truck now.
I quoted up the parts that would be required to do the repairs he wanted me to do.
I emailed Chris the quote and asked for the money , for the parts, to be paid before ordering them. As certain parts are none returnable.
Chris then refused the quote as he didn’t want all the parts required for the repairs and didn’t want to pay up front.
He wanted to Crimp off the back brakes and replace one drum on the steer brakes.
I refuse to do any illegal and dangerous repairs that isn’t up to the industry standards nor my standards.
I will not endanger other road users Because someone wants to cheap out on parts.
Chris has now decided to bag me out on Facebook and threaten me with fair trading because I won’t do as he’s asked.
To other mobile mechanics or mechanics in general , don't allow a customer to bully you into doing unsafe work to make it cheaper for them.
