If you can't see the truck driver's mirrors, they probably can't see you.
Heavy vehicles have significant blind spots around the front, sides and rear. In some positions an entire car can disappear from a truck driver's view.
This becomes especially important when:
β’ Overtaking a truck
β’ Merging near a truck
β’ Stopping or slowing directly in front of a truck
β’ Travelling alongside a truck at intersections or roundabouts
Remember, truck drivers can't avoid hazards they can't see.
Giving heavy vehicles plenty of space, avoiding lingering beside them, and making your movements predictable significantly reduces risks.
The goal isn't just to see the truck. It's to make sure the truck can see you
