Our post for yester "DAY" sparked some good conversation and as an extension today we add the below..
And don't forget our evening "Understanding Weather" posts we are running this week.
WHAT SHOULD BE FRONT OF MIND THIS TIME OF YEAR
𝗕𝗼𝗮𝘁: battery, fuel system, bilge pump, navigation lights, trailer, wheel bearings, safety gear.
𝗠𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗿: Book a service now, not the Friday afternoon before your first big trip.
𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗰𝘀: GPS, sounder, transducer, VHF.. BILGE PUMPS !! turn everything on and make sure it actually works.
𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗴𝗲𝗮𝗿: check dates and condition of flares, EPIRB, lifejackets and first-aid kit.
Trailers: tyres, bearings, brakes, lights and winch. A boat that can't get to the ramp is no use to anyone.
𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗴𝗲𝗮𝗿: sharpen hooks, check leaders, replace old line, service reels and sort the tackle box.
Weather knowledge: start getting into the habit of checking marine forecasts rather than simply looking out the window.
𝗗𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝗶𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀𝗻'𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴.
