Another Cascadia out the gate 👌

Really happy to hand this Freightliner Cascadia 126 with 48-inch sleeper over to Noel and Alison Lane from Lane Transport.

Noel’s one of those blokes we genuinely enjoy dealing with.

He knows trucks, knows what works out on the road, and there’s never much fluff in the conversation. You talk through what he needs, work out the best way to do it, and get on with the job.

That’s probably one of the things we enjoy most about working with operators like Noel.

We’re not sitting in a city office trying to guess what regional transport operators need. We live and work in the same sort of communities, deal with the same roads, the same distances and the same challenges. There’s a bit of a shared understanding there that makes the whole process easier.

And this truck is a good example of that.

We’ve taken a Cascadia 126 48-inch sleeper and set it up around the way Noel wants to work and live out of the truck:

There’s been plenty of back-and-forth during the build, a few ideas changed along the way, and a lot of local people involved in getting it exactly where it needed to be.

That’s how we like doing trucks.

Not just selling one and waving goodbye, but working with good people to build something that actually suits the job.

Not a bad day at work! ✈️🚛

Early start this morning, heading up to Hopetoun to pick up Ross Brown’s 2023 Freightliner Cascadia.

Ross is looking to give the truck a new lease on life by converting it from a prime mover into a tipper and dog setup — with the aim of increasing payload while still keeping the combination suitable to be driven on an HC licence.

From Hopetoun, I drove the Cascadia down to Carli Engineering in Ballarat, where we’ll work through the setup and make sure the finished truck suits exactly what Ross needs.

Then came the hard part… Ross flew down to Ballarat to pick me up for the trip home. 😎✈️

A pretty good example of what we mean when we talk about finding the right solution — sometimes selling trucks is only part of the job.

Thanks again Ross for trusting us with the next stage of this truck.

Another Hook Truck Demo Day done! 🚛

A big thanks to Luke, Nick and Addison from HED Industries for taking the Mercedes-Benz Actros 3246 out today and putting it through its paces.

The standout feedback was the comfort — especially over a full day behind the wheel.

That’s what these demo days are all about: giving operators the chance to use the truck in their own environment and see how it performs in the real world.

Our first Hook Truck Demo Day is done! 🚛

Tony from Demolition Man put the Mercedes-Benz Actros 3246 through a genuine day’s work, covering 359 km across Horsham, Pimpinio and Dimboola with 20, 25 and 30 m³ bins.

The truck performed strongly across highway and off road driving, tight access, pick-ups, drop-offs and tip-site work.

The standout was the onboard scales, saving time in labour and fuel across four short loads by reducing unnecessary weighbridge trips.

Thanks to Tony for taking the truck out and giving us honest feedback.

🔧 Getting Our New Hook Truck Demo Ready for Work 🚛

Age, our Head Mechanic, is currently completing the pre-delivery inspection on our new Mercedes-Benz Actros 3248 fitted with a hooklift.

This truck is not being preped just to sit in the yard. We are getting it ready for local businesses to put through a genuine day’s work using their own loads, bins, sites and operators.

The aim is simple - give local operators the opportunity to see how the truck performs in the real world and provide honest feedback on what works, what does not, and what our region actually needs.

It will be available for selected operators across:

♻️ Waste and recycling
🚧 Civil and construction
🏛️ Councils
🏠🔨 Demolition

There is still some work to do before it hits the road, but Age is making sure everything is properly checked and ready to go.

Keep an eye out - we will share more details once the truck is ready to put to work.

🏇 They're off and racing in a brand new Triton! 🏇

A huge congratulations to Jim & Charmayne from the Horsham & District Racing Club on taking delivery of their new Mitsubishi Triton and trading in the trusty old MR and stepping straight up to the winner's circle.

This one's a stayer... Bull bar on the front, canopy on the back, and built to go the distance around the club and out on the track. The old girl served them well, but sometimes you know when it's time to back a fresh runner. 🐎

We love backing the clubs that keep the Wimmera ticking, and the ongoing relationship with the Racing Club is one we don't take for granted. Here's to plenty more laps together.
