We’ve finished diagnosing this diesel Prado and unfortunately found the issue was a bit more serious than first expected.

The customer has been contacted, we’ve explained what we’ve found and we can now work through the best way forward with them.

A routine service can pick up problems you may not notice during everyday driving, before they develop into something that could leave you broken down on the side of the road.

A bit of Australian military history through the workshop.

This ex-Australian Army Land Rover was just in. We work on plenty of older 4WDs like this, and we’re set up to handle everything from general servicing and maintenance through to repairs, diagnostics and more involved mechanical work.

Whether it’s an ex-military vehicle, a dual cab ute or a modified 4WD, we know our way around them.

Charging issues don’t always mean the alternator itself has failed.

This 2007 Toyota Aurion came in after having an alternator replaced elsewhere, but it was still having charging problems. After testing the system, we traced the fault back to the wiring and a loose main connection at the alternator.

It’s a good example of why proper diagnosis matters before replacing more parts.

This 105 Series LandCruiser came into Hornsby Automotive with a gearbox whine for us to diagnose as well as a full check-over.

We’re going through the vehicle to track down exactly where the noise is coming from, while also checking over the rest of the 4WD for any other issues that need attention.

With older LandCruisers, finding the cause early can save a much bigger repair down the track.

This Toyota Prado was towed into the workshop after leaving its owner stranded.

We’re currently working through the diagnosis, including a leak-down test to check the condition of the engine and help pinpoint exactly where the issue is coming from.

Rather than jumping straight into replacing parts, we’ll work through the testing, find the cause and determine what’s needed to get it back on the road.

This 4JJ1 Rodeo came in for a routine service, but while going over the vehicle we found an exhaust manifold leak.

Further inspection found a cracked and leaking EGR cooler, along with excessive wear in the turbo.

We’ve sourced the new replacement parts, had the exhaust manifold machined and are getting everything back together to get it back on the road for the customer.

A good example of why servicing is more than just changing the oil and filters. It gives us the opportunity to properly inspect the vehicle and pick up issues that need attention.
