So, i was fortunate enough to be able to visit Rosco McGlashan and see his Aussie Invader 5R World Land Speed Record challenger car. Built in his shed, on the side of his house, it's designed to exceed 1000mph or 1600kph. The car is complete, and ready for final testing, prior to making record attempts.
Rosco already holds the Australian land speed record of over 800 kmh, and his previous car exceeded 600mph. The major constraint at the moment is the lack of a sponsorship funding for the final stages. You can help Rosco just by buying his book off Amazon. It's a great read, I have my own copy, or if you have the resources, a major sponsorship deal could put your name on the car.
The power output of the rocket motor is equivalent to 200 000hp. More than an F35 jet. If you can, read some of the details. The wheels will be subjected to 50 000 G's, whilst doing 10 000 rpm. Some of the other statistics are equally mind blowing.
Currently, there are no other teams actively trying to break the World Land Speed Record. All of the other potential challengers have fallen by the wayside for various reasons.
There are a number of photos of Rosco's previous cars, and his previous successful attempts, along with some of the iterations of the project. Just remember that you are looking at the most powerful car in the world, the most technologically advanced car of its type, and, until it runs, potentially the fastest car ever built.
