Hogan Automotive is a well-established, reputable workshop in Heidelberg West and we are currently seeking a fully qualified or near-qualified Motor Mechanic to join our team.

About the Role
You will be responsible for servicing and repairing a wide range of vehicles, from classic cars to late-model makes and models, including light trucks (under 4.5 tonne).

Key Duties
• General servicing and mechanical repairs
• Tyres, brakes, and suspension work
• Roadworthy Certificates (RWC)
• Diagnostic fault finding and repairs
• Working on passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles

Requirements
• Fully qualified or close to completion as a Motor Mechanic
• Australian or New Zealand recognised qualification
• Current Australian driver’s licence
• Strong diagnostic skills
• Reliable, motivated, and able to work independently

Carbon Cleaning ✅

Do you own a direct fuel injected petrol vehicle? Chances are your inlet valves look like this.

As direct injected engines spray directly into the combustion chamber, fuel does not pass by the inlet valves like it does on a port injected system. Therefore the fuel does not naturally clean the valves as it passes and as a result, leaves large carbon deposits to build up, as pictured here.

Removing the inlet manifold and walnut blasting the carbon away leaves the ports much cleaner, and provides much better performance and fuel economy on your vehicle.

Some of the common vehicles we see this on are VW/Audi, however it is applicable to all direct injection petrol vehicles.

Heart transplant for this Ford Ranger!

Towed to us with a severe bottom end knock, this one got a brand new crate engine from Ford, cooling system refresh and all the common troublesome components attached to these P5AT engines rectified.

Zach's Hilux in for some needed repairs, and just in time!

Presenting to us with a failed head gasket, we dove in only to keep finding more.

A snapped timing chain guide, very loose chain and lots of prizes in the sump as a result!

This 22r-E got a much deserved top end rebuild, with a brand new cylinder head, timing chain and cover, all the trimmings + a full reseal. Ready for its next stage in life.

This Navara came to us this week for issues with a funny feeling clutch. What did we find upon removing the gearbox?

All the clutch pressure plate bolts loose, and 2 snapped off with the heads rolling around in the bellhousing. One managed to get itself wedged under the flywheel at one point and left some battle scars.

Not a great find when the clutch had been replaced just prior to the customer taking ownership of this vehicle.

It is always important to make sure you know and trust the mechanics you have working on your vehicle, to keep you safe and reliable on the roads.

This one of course, got the full overhaul.
