Part 2 of the history
As Mr white's health began to fail he decided it was time to sell his faithful truck. The first person to look at it said it was too expensive.he then met Bluey Bowman and told him about the vehicle Bluey inspected it and purchased it for $1200 moving the truck to his shed which was also at Redcliffe :he subsequently replaced the carburetor, distributor cap and rotor button and was able to get the engine running before moving the Chev to to his sons property at Grandchester. There it sat again in a garage for 9 years! I met Bluey at the Laidley Pioneer Village and eventually purchased the truck from him at the end of October 2012.I began its restoration but progress was slow until 2015 when i began in earnest.
I joined the VVCAA and received help from members in locating some necessary spare parts. About this time I also met my fellow restorer,Chris Mouna, and together we started a full restoration down to the chassis and rebuild. Chris has been invaluable as a sheet metal fabricator, painter and general all round restoration worker.
The clutch and pressure plate were refurbished in Gatton. The chassis was sandblasted and painted. We cleaned the front I-beam and disassembled the and cleaned the springs before reassembly on the chassis. Some smaller items were prepared for painting in the Laidley Pioneer village's sandblasting cabinet . Chris and I rebuilt the tray back with locally sawn hardwood timber from the Hatton Vale area.
Restoring the brakes was a lengthy saga.A local workshop in Gatton mucked us around for more than a year, before in desperation,I sourced a brake shop in the NSW central coast ,who completed the job satisfactorily within a fortnight. A new radiator was made by Ipswich Radiator repairs after the original failed to come up to scratch.

Hi all i am going to to the information about the trucks history i shall need to do this in several posts so bear with me.
This artical appeared in the 50th anniversary magazine of the V.V.C.A.A published April 2019,
Paul Smith's 1934 Chevrolet truck. In Australia,Chevrolet trucks were prominent workhorses from the 1920's to the 1970's,but the heavy nature of their pattern of use was often a determining factor in their demise,so fewer have survived than Chevrolet passenger vehicles and commercial Chevrolet's are less well represented in VVCAA circles as a result.Paul is only the third owner of his truck and this probably contributed to its survival-and now brought back to its original glory. It seems that the interest in Chevrolet commercials has risen in recent years and it is hoped that Paul's story will attract the attention of readers.

Team Effort on the 1934 Chevrolet Series PA

My Chevrolet is a 1934 Series PA 1 1/2 ton truck with a 131" wheelbase, it was originally purchased by Mr C.White from E.G.Eager & Son in Newstead,Brisbane(the Queensland distributor for Chevrolet cars and trucks) and driven home to Warwick, where he and his brothers managed a cattle property. As a sideline, the truck was used to deliver firewood in and around Warwick township and this use continued until he retired to Redcliffe. The truck remained on the property where it was stored in a barn;on one of his visits home he found that vandals had damaged the truck, breaking the windscreen and stealing the distributor cap, rotor and carburetor and air filter. In response to this Mr White had the truck trailered to Redcliffe and stored in a garage.
