Another happy customer!
Stephen Roberts patiently waited a couple years to get us to work our magic on his trusty 3 litre.

Fitted with a bigger front mount, and a turbo back exhaust meant we could run a higher boost level safely, while still being well within the factory turbo's shaft speed limits.

Towing a camper and running around on fraser should be much easier, more economical and most of all still super reliable with fueling set to maintain a reasonable egt under high load for extended periods, which beach work requires alot of.

On the dyno we typically see 145hp and 450nm atw with this air fuel and boost, compared to 110hp 320nm standard, and from much lower down in the rev range, with useable torque way down around 1500rpm even in 5th!

The PJ that started it all! 👀

This was one of my first cars on my P's.
I started tinkering with these little 2.5s back around 2012, well before there was any sort of tuning interface available to modify the contents of ecu's, or off the shelf performance parts that were graced with now.

The best you could do is an exhaust, cooler and maybe one of those rail pressure chips that did next to nothing, i never even saw the point of a single mass clutch as the standard one held up just fine, i tried fooling maf sensors with resistors, rail pressure, even fooling map and quickly learned that the ecu was right up against its fuel limiters in stock form so boost increases did nothing, then i started looking into trying to tune them a number of years later.

Now days ill tune a bog stocker and slip the clutch almost instantly, it makes me laugh as younger me would have absolutely drooled over even a stock tuned one, now 300+hp is almost the norm out of these 15 year old diesel nuggets.

How times have changed, yet almost 15 years later here we are, tinkering with the same old model of ute that i was back then, and having just as much fun! 😂

I wonder where that little ute is now? 🤔

Another sleeper! 👀

Will's little ute was previously tuned with this setup elsewhere and he was unhappy with the results, rolling around with high EGT's at cruise and poor drivability while not making much power to show for it, so he reached out to us and booked a visit on our current interstate trip up north.

Fitted with a
48mm turbocharger
Mint Welding And Fabrication intake plenum
3 inch turbo back exhaust
Front mount intercooler
+50 injectors
Lift pump
And a suspected heavy duty clutch (not heavy enough 🤫)

We loaded our base file in and on the first pull it blew through the clutch in 4th. Oops.... he drove it around for a fair while on the old tune and it didn't even come close to bothering the clutch, safe to say we were making some stink! 😃

We set it a fair chunk more conservative considering the clutch wasn't happy, and wel be back once Will puts a NPC Button clutch in it so we can turn it up to what its actually capable of.

Jade White has to be our most patient customer ever! he booked us to come up towards cairns 2 years ago and even paid up front for both our intercooler kit and a tune.

So this time round we made absolute sure to drop by and sort it for him, Thankyou for valuing our effort and time that we invest in the ranger/bt50 platform and thankyou for the kind words Jade! 😁 better late than never hey!

We've been super quiet on posting lately due to being on the road and flat out busy!

The new R&D Platform has been more than pleasant to drive over its first 10 thousand kms! When doing our own research before purchasing there was a few reviews by people such as cars guide, carexpert ect ect but they werent particularly in depth when it came to actually living with the ute for a longer period of time.

We will be doing a short/mid term review on the last of the 4jj3's once we are back in vic!

Theres some things we absolutely love, and some things that are an absolute joke for a production vehicle to be stuck with from new. Stay tuned! 🙂

We are officially finally heading to Cairns!
Arriving roughly around Tuesday next week.

We have some free slots available bookings between Cairns and Brisbane, there has been many of you that placed bookings over the past 3-4 years, and we never actually made it this far North.

Danny's ute was tuned by us years ago now and we also fitted with a bunch of our parts including a genuine set of replacement injectors and our cooler kit.

Doing over 80 thousand kms since then, travelling a total 330kms, Danny booked it in for a health check and timing belt while we were there, all we found was a worn viscous hub and a happy engine.

This utes done everything from the typical bush bash abuse, burnouts, heavy towing, you name it.

Testament to tune it it right, maintain it with good parts and it will remain reliable even if you do give them a hard time on big tyres.

Here's to another 80k before we meet this ute again! 😁
