Back before the flood!

75 Year Long Service

The sign mounted proudly on the side of the workshop says Dore Bros Garage, Est. 1946. Some 75 years after this business started, I’m greeted at the office my Matthew Dore, grandson of one of its founders. Three-quarters of a century later, quite incredibly, this workshop just off the main highway in Gympie, Queensland, remains a family business.

We are getting close to opening our doors again. We have had a massive job this week removing all the damaged material and cleaning up what remains. We are hoping to get power back soon and have the office back up and running with computers, phones, eftpos, even pens and paper! Next week we are expecting to start taking bookings again and hoping to be open for business at some point during the week. Thank you everyone for your patience and if you are wanting to get in touch we expect to have the office up and running this Monday to start taking your enquires. We look forward to seeing you then.

Another gratitude post, this time we can’t begin to mention names as we will undoubtedly miss someone. We have been blown away by the amount of people that have helped us this week in the first stage of our recovery, we’ve had coffee, food, equipment, a place to stay, transport, lots of muscle and peoples time given to us, our family taken care of, listening ears, hugs and so much more. We can’t imagine where we’d still be without all the help we’ve received and once again want to put it out there how amazed we are and the sincere gratitude we have to everyone who has supported us. We still have a long road ahead but we are so much closer to opening our doors once again. Thank you everyone.

A heartfelt thank you to all who turned up today (not one person was asked to help they all turned up and offered) and put in a tremendous effort in the clean up process. We still have a long haul until we are operational but we are a lot closer after todays efforts. Thank you Emma and Darryl, Bent St Vet, Cameron Stanton Plumbing, Envy Hair Design & Spa Mikaela, Lachlan Dore, sorry to anyone we missed. A huge number of young adults put in some serious hard yards today, thank you. Rainbow Beach Helicopters who got us on this side of the river and Leisa who is being a fantastic host. Thank you, we owe you all a debt!

Dore Bros Garage is closed until first notice due to flood damage. We currently have no phones, modem, computers, eftpos machine and much more. We have damage to our booking schedule so cannot advise people individually that we have to cancel. Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to re-opening our doors as soon as possible.

Anyone know who this belongs to? It was found in our workshop a couple weeks ago, must have fallen out of a customers car. We'd love to return it.
