*Latest Update from the 2026 Gympie Gold Rush Festival*

ONLY FOUR MONTHS TO GO … YEP, THAT’S RIGHT, ONLY FOUR MONTHS UNTIL GYMPIE’S BIGGEST FREE COMMUNITY FESTIVAL!

The Gympie Gold Rush Festival Organising Committee will hold its next monthly general meeting on Thursday, 25 June @ 5.30pm @ Gympie RSL, Level 2.

The June general meeting will provide updates about our three huge events in October, plus our 'Go for Gold' event on 18-19 July.

All organisations, businesses, and individuals are welcome to attend. We are still seeking sponsors, parade participants, and volunteers for the street parade and community concert to join our amazing team. Come along to see what all the fuss is about!

Today marks 50years since “Wally Windscreen” started his career in the windscreen industry. On the 16/02/1976 Wal began work for Automobile Glasses Qld on Archibald St in Toowoomba. It was later taken over by Windscreens O’Brien where he continued to work until a promotion sent him to O’Briens in Maroochydore in 1988 and then to Gympie in 1990. When O’Briens decided to sell the Gympie branch in early 1993 Wally and Christine purchased the business to avoid yet another move. Although recently retired, Wal has had long hard working but successful career in the industry. Congratulations Wal!!
