‼ATTENTION LOCAL SPORTING CLUBS — this one’s for you!

In conjunction with the Gympie Gold Rush Festival and our Brown Macaulay & Warren Gympie Cup day on Saturday October 24, we’re excited to launch a brand new community event, the Ray White - Gympie Gold Nugget Relay.

The concept is simple: teams of four go head-to-head in a fun and competitive foot race, with every team proudly representing a local sporting club. There will be two heats, with the top two teams from each heat progressing through to the final to battle it out for some major prize money.

And the best part? Your club gets something back just for taking part!

Every registered team will secure a $100 donation for their nominated sporting club. But that’s not all… the top four teams will also have the chance to take home a share of the $2,500 prize pool!

🥇 1st Place – $1,000
🥈 2nd Place – $700
🥉 3rd Place – $500
🏅 4th Place – $300

HOW TO ENTER
• One team per sporting club
• Teams of 4 competitors
• Competitors must be 18 years or older
• Each competitor must run 100m along the Gympie Turf Club sand track holding a gold nugget
• Competitors must represent a Gympie Region sporting club
• No entry fee
• Registrations close Monday, 19 October

All participating team members will receive FREE General Admission and will also have access to a dedicated Competitors Marquee on the BMWCA Gympie Cup day — your team’s base before the big race.

The Ray White Gold Nugget Relay will take place just after 4pm on Saturday October 24.

This was FUN!! What a fantastic afternoon at the Gympie Gold Rush Parade!

Our float had it all — a phantom race call, bookies, Vow & Declare race colours, a strapper, Fashions on the Field and of course, two of racing’s most prestigious trophies proudly on display: the Gympie Cup and the 2019 Melbourne Cup! 🏆

Shoutout to our Life Member, Spencer Slatter, the creative mastermind behind our float! And a big thank you to our President and Vice President, Shane & Eric, along with our committee members and all the familiar faces from the Gympie Turf Club who helped bring it all to life.

On 16 October 1867, James Nash discovered gold right here in Gympie, sparking a gold rush that would shape the future of our town.

Racing in Gympie dates all the way back to the late 1860s, during the height of the Gympie Gold Rush.

As Gympie celebrates its incredible Gold Rush history today, we’re proud that the Gympie Turf Club remains part of that legacy, continuing a racing tradition that has been woven into our community’s story for more than 155 years.

We can't wait to be trackside in just over a week's time, Saturday October 24, as we celebrate another chapter in Gympie’s racing history, the Brown Macaulay & Warren Gympie Cup 🏆

We weren't wrong when we said the Gympie Cup has plenty of stories to tell...

We were recently contacted by Cairns Regional Council after they stumbled across the 1986 Gympie Cup abandoned in bushland! With a little cut and polish (thanks Shane), look at her now!

But here’s the best part of the story… the winner, AMBOINA, trained by L. Hickmott, was ridden by none other than our very own, GEORGE SELBY! 🙌

A pretty special piece of Gympie racing history back where it belongs and just in time for the Brown Macaulay & Warren Gympie Cup on October 24! 🏇

Racing Queensland confirms that following the abandonment of the Gayndah Jockey Club race meeting on Saturday, October 10, an alternative venue has been secured for the meeting, and it will now be hosted by Gympie Turf Club.
