We've fitted to this A45s hill climb weapon for braking you can count on, run after run 🏁

Every time you brake, your pads and rotors turn speed into heat. Standard brakes are built for everyday driving, so when you push hard lap after lap they can overheat and start to fade. That's when the pedal goes soft and the car takes longer to stop.

Sporting an Eventuri cold air intake and an Integrated Engineering downpipe, this tastefully modified Golf R came in for a Galano Engineering custom ECU and TCU tune with lowering springs.

179KW ➡ 221KW
339NM ➡ 522NM

We also ran an ADAS check before it went home, so the radar cruise, lane assist and AEB are all reading as they should.

After a lot of questions about the works on the blue monster, here's a closer look at what went into the RS6.

The competition downpipes and mid pipes take out the restrictive factory components that create back pressure on the exhaust side of the turbochargers. Less back pressure means faster boost onset and better heat dispersion higher in the rev range, where the engine really starts to sing. Air moving out faster means more air in, and you feel it straight away.

From there it goes on the dyno, with calibration done alongside . The vitals of engine operation get optimised to extract the highest power safely, revised until everyone is happy with the result. Every car is calibrated on its own merits.

The transmission tune matters just as much as the engine side. It controls shift architecture, torque limits, shift speeds and how much torque gets sent to all four wheels. When you increase torque on the engine side, the transmission needs to know about it.

Once it's lowered, the alignment and ADAS calibration get sorted here too. Drop the ride height and the geometry changes, and the cameras and radar read the road and other traffic off that geometry. Both systems rely on the accuracy of the other, so both get done before it goes back on the road.

This RS6 doesn't muck around 😮‍💨

▪ Downpipes and mid pipes
▪ Spacers
▪ ECU and TCU tune
▪Air suspension lowered through ODIS with all the factory modes retained
▪Alignment and ADAS calibration - all done in house
▪ASR module so the exhaust valves can be controlled separately from the drive mode through the factory interface and it remembers the last setting on start up

With 452kW and 993Nm at the wheels, it's really not a bad way to end a busy week.

Most cars on the road today have Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). That's the name for tech like radar cruise control that brakes for you, warnings when you drift out of your lane and Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) that stops the car if the vehicle ahead suddenly brakes.

Here's the thing: those features rely on cameras and sensors that need to know exactly where your car is heading. And they figure that out from your wheel alignment.

So when anything changes whether the car gets lowered, the wheels get aligned, the windscreen gets replaced then those sensors can end up slightly off. You won't notice a thing while driving. But in an emergency, the tech might not react the way it should.

Even worse, if you're in an accident and your ADAS wasn't calibrated correctly, your insurance company could use that as a reason not to pay out.

The good news? We've just invested in the equipment to check and fix all of this ourselves, right here in our workshop. Your car doesn't get sent anywhere else. We handle it start to finish.

▪Replacing faulty radars and cameras (including after windscreen repairs)
