It’s been 6 months since I opened Toowoomba Marine Centre, and I just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who’s supported me along the way.

To those who’ve booked a service or repair, had an inspection done, sent someone my way, shared a post, or simply followed along, I really appreciate it.

The last 6 months have absolutely flown by, and it’s been great to see the business grow and build a solid client base along the way.

I’ve been looking over this fishing boat for a client who’s getting ready for their next trip. Just giving everything a thorough check and making sure it’s all in good shape before it heads back out on the water.

With the warmer months approaching, there’s plenty happening around the workshop and plenty more to look forward to.

Thanks again to everyone who’s been part of the journey so far!

What a great first week in the new workshop!

I'd just like to say a big thank you to everyone who liked, shared, or commented on last week's announcement. I appreciate all the support and kind words.

It's been a busy week settling into the new workshop, getting everything organised, and working on the boats that have come through the door. Having a dedicated workshop has already made a huge difference.

I'm looking forward to continuing to grow Toowoomba Marine Centre and supporting the local boating community 🙌

From Monday, 6 July, I’ll be operating from my new workshop at:

Shed 1
29 Old Homebush Road
Gowrie Junction QLD 4352

Located behind the Gowrie One Stop Convenience Centre.

There’s been a lot happening behind the scenes over the last few days to get the workshop ready. I’ve been cleaning and repainting the floor, installing shelving, and moving all my tools, equipment, and the boats I’m currently working on into the new space.

I’m also pleased to announce that BLA (Boating Lifestyle Adventure) has come on board. I’ll soon be stocking a range of genuine BLA marine products, making it more convenient for clients to access quality marine parts and accessories.

Moving into a dedicated workshop is an important step for Toowoomba Marine Centre. It means I can continue providing the same level of reliable, professional marine servicing and repairs from a space properly set up for the work.

If you’re passing by, feel free to drop in and say hello!

Three Evinrude E-TEC outboards serviced, tested, and ready to head back to their owners.

I'm always happy to see clients keeping up with their annual servicing. This time, I completed annual services and diagnostic checks on these 40hp, 50hp, and 60hp Evinrude E-TEC outboards to make sure they're running reliably and ready for the water.

During the inspection, I found the 50hp outboard needed a new Vapour Separator Tank (VST). Because the issue was picked up during its scheduled service, I was able to replace the faulty part before it had the chance to cause a breakdown on the water.

Regular servicing is about more than just changing oils and filters. It's an opportunity to identify worn or failing components early, helping to improve reliability, maintain performance, and avoid more costly repairs down the track.

If your outboard's due for a service, needs diagnostics, or you're experiencing mechanical issues, give us a call on 0499 746 471.

Just a fun question for all the boaties out there…

What's the boat that's meant the most to you?

Maybe it was your very first boat, the one you’ve got now, or a family boat you grew up with.

If you’ve got a photo, we’d love to see it. Drop it in the comments and tell us a bit about why that boat is special to you 👇

Take a look at these before and after photos from a recent boat polish. There’s nothing better than bringing faded gelcoat back to life and seeing the transformation once the job is done 👍

It’s hard to believe it’s been almost two months since opening Toowoomba Marine Centre. My family and I just want to say a huge thank you for all the support so far. We really appreciate every booking, recommendation, and kind word along the way.

Have a great week everyone!

Today I finished working on a Mercury 175 HP BlackMax V6 and returned it to a very happy client.

In the first photo, you’ll see the poppet valve cover on the right-hand side beneath the powerhead. The client had previously fitted a repair kit themselves, but the poppet valve was still leaking from the weep hole.

The second photo shows the original poppet valve, which had developed a hole. Although an aftermarket repair kit had been installed, the issue wasn’t resolved.

After inspection, it became clear that the aftermarket components weren’t sealing correctly. I recommended switching to genuine Mercury parts to ensure proper cooling performance and reliability.

I installed new genuine components and pressure-tested the system to confirm the leak was fully resolved. In the third photo, you can see the difference between the aftermarket diaphragm and the genuine part.

Aftermarket parts can be suitable in some cases, but this is a good example of when genuine components make all the difference.

All sorted, and the boat is ready to get back on the water!
