Last time we posted progress photos of rust repairs on a customer's vehicle titled Datsun rust part one. This time it's a customer's 1959 Chevrolet. So, quite predictably, here's Chevy rust part one. Captions on the photos explain more.

DATSUN RUST. PART ONE. Adam's phone is so clogged with close up photos of bits of rust that it is about to have a seizure. So this post, and probably the next few after this, will be a bit of a photo dump. Rather than a lengthy explanation here please see the captions for each photo. Let's just call this post "Datsun rust, part one".

Just a random shop photo. British, German, Italian and even some American lurking in the background.
If it's old or interesting we dig it at Rebel Restoration Services.

Another flathead Ford V8 in for an overhaul at Rebel Restoration Services.
The engine is out of this well known Aussie hot rod from the eighties.

FREE HOT ROD CHASSIS ×4 (potentially😊).
I know it's short notice, but we would really like these gone by this weekend.
From the top down:-
No.1 what we believe is an Essex chassis. It's upside down in the picture.
No.2 the outer rails and inner boxing pieces from a '46-'48 Ford Ute. It was from a Ute that had been converted into 4wd using ww2 Jeep parts. It may be good for the rear kick up parts?
No.3 a '42-'48 Ford that's not mint, but definitely saveable. Probably the best one in the stack.
No.4 the roller on the bottom. Mechanical brakes and wide five wheels. Our guess is 1938 and again a Ford. It's got very bad rust issues in the rear kick up areas. May not be repairable. Still, it has It's front and rear ends and rear lever shocks. We would like to keep the wheels for another project. If you really need them we want $200 (that is $50ea ×4).
EVERYTHING IS FREE EXCEPT THE WHEELS.

FREE! FREE! FREE!
We picked these up on Monday afternoon after receiving a phone call that they were going in the scrap bin. They were left over from a deceased estate, and the family didn't know what to do with them.
The gentleman that owned them had a collection of Edwardian era, Belgian made FN cars. There are four 24×3 and one 25×3 rims and a 24 inch rim holder.
They are FREE if you come and get them, we don't even want the time and petrol it cost us to go and pick them up in the first place.
They are, also still, FREE if YOU arrange all transport for someone else to pick them up.
However they will cost you the time involved at our usual hourly rate if we have to arrange anything.

So this happened today! The 1956 Volkswagen Beetle moved backwards and forwards under it's own power.
And for those that can't help but point out the obvious, yes we can see the generator belt too. A few things need to be fine tuned and adjusted. But today's mission, drive it (two car lengths) was a success.

It only took us four and a half years of trying to give it away, but we finally found a new home for the Austin Seven chassis today. A guy called Russ called yesterday to see if we still had it and was very keen to get hold of it. We were just as keen for him to have it. That would mean, one less project for us to keep thinking about.
But what happened next was a total surprise! He pulled an old photo album out of this well used Nissan Navara to show us some of the cars he has raced over the years. We were blown away. If this guy put captions to all of his photos, we reckon he would have a best seller any racing enthusiast would love to have.
We asked if we could take some pictures to share on our page and he was more than happy. What we show here is only a sample of what's in the photo album.
And the Austin chassis? Well his grandson wants to build a special to go racing. An 81 year old and a 14 year old are going to build a car together. The parts couldn't have gone to a better place.

We are asked almost daily "how much is it going to cost?" Or "why/how CAN it cost so much?"
Well as much as we don't like 'artificial intelligence', we thought we would put it to the computer-ma-bob to see what it had to say. Surprisingly, it had a reasonably realistic answer.
