One of the more interesting jobs we have had this year has been a vehicle that is part of autonomous testing for writing legislation. the car, a Renault Zoe.
TMR required certification of the dual controls and approval. As the authorized agent for Heman dual controls, Dual Controls Australia was called in and worked our magic.
A few adjustments were required, as was a bit of maintenance, but nothing to be unexpected for a car that crossed the Atlantic!
We made an adjustment on the brake pedal bracket, to ensure the cable pull was in the centre of the pulley.
This is important, as there always exists the possibility that potential could exist, for slack in the pulley to allow the cable to jump, get caught, and therefore fray.
To add further insurance to this, we also put a spring retainer on the cable, so that when the driver is using the brake, the cable cannot go slack and allow the potential for the cable to come out of the groove, get caught, and be frayed.
It was a great experience to be part of the QUT team for a day.
