New rules! See below comms from Gold Coast Waterways Authority:

🚤 One channel. One speed limit. Six knots.

From Monday 14 September, a consistent 6-knot speed limit will apply to every vessel and jet ski travelling through Paradise Point Channel, north of the Sovereign Islands bridge.

No mixed rules. No guesswork. Just one clear speed limit for everyone sharing this busy stretch of water.

The trial will run for 12 months, giving GCWA time to see whether the simpler rule improves compliance and supports safer use of the channel.

Heading through Paradise Point Channel? Keep an eye out for the new signs, ease back on the throttle and allow a few extra minutes for your trip.

GCWA will review the trial after six months and complete a final evaluation before considering what happens next. No decision has been made about a permanent speed limit.

When a sailing vessel is hauled out of the water using a travelift, its deep keel poses a structural and height challenge on a standard flat hardstand. The keel pit allows the boat's keel to lower safely below ground level.
• Waterline Access: It enables marine contractors and boat owners to work efficiently and safely at eye level under the waterline.
• Keel & Rudder Services: It provides the necessary ground clearance to completely drop, install, or perform engineering overhauls on massive rudders and complex keel structures.
• Safe Hardstand Support: Lowering the keel into the pit stabilizes high-performance racing yachts during hull treatments, anti-fouling, and major refit projects.
