The vessel is thoroughly water blasted to remove salt, contaminants and built-up residue, ensuring the surface is properly prepared for the next stages of the abrasive blasting and protective coatings process.

Preparation is everything. 💪⚓

Before the blasting and painting even begins, the BBA Marine crew makes sure every surface and surrounding area is properly prepared.

Windows, fittings and areas not being coated are carefully protected and covered, while surfaces are thoroughly water blasted in accordance with Australian coating specifications to remove salt, contaminants and other residues that could compromise the coating system.

Proper preparation helps prevent salt contamination beneath the coating and ensures the best possible adhesion, protection and long-term finish.

A quality coating system starts well before the first coat of paint goes on. 👌

Named after Australian aviation pioneer Sir John Duigan, this vessel is built for demanding marine operations and is now ready for a fresh protective coating system designed to withstand the harsh marine environment.

Plenty of work ahead — time to get stuck into it. 🔥⚓
