Yesterday Seagulls Slotcars hosted an endurance race for Scaleauto GT and Hypercars. They raced head to head and the results were so close. Most of us tried to get the new hypercar to a point we were comfortable racing it but with years of development already on the GTs they were the choice of 6 of the 8 teams (capped at 8). The hypercar was much nicer to drive but marginally slower, ours 1/2 a tenth per lap, which adds up over the course of the race.
Nick and I had a fantastic first outing in the new 4orce Raceway club shirts with a 4 lap (about 25 seconds) win after 140 minutes (7 lanes at 20 minutes / 10 per driver per lane). Second in was Ken and Rick who were finishing very strongly on the fastest of the 7 lanes but finishing just shy. Grant and Ash were the first hypercar home only 1 lap (less than 7 seconds) behind second. Incredibly close racing with no room for error from any team.
A big thanks to Kim from Seagulls for his continued support of our racing and helping keep our classes running while 4orce Raceway is being built. Also a huge thank you to Gerald (PRD Southport) and Grant (Ray White Mermaid Beach) for sponsoring the day. Nick who is just a whizz at setting up race cars, both big and little!! Nothing left to chance with our car meaning all we had to do was drive consistently.
We’re hoping to run a 2 hour endurance for the Scaleauto Hypercars later in the year at 4orce Raceway. It will be great to get to race these cars on a level playing field. More details will become available once a completion date is at hand for our track.
