🔧 **SENIOR AUTOMOTIVE MECHANIC WANTED** 🔧

Burke's Mechanical Repairs is looking for an experienced **Senior Automotive Mechanic** to join our small, hardworking team in Glenorchy.

We're not a dealership, and we're not about replacing parts until the problem disappears. We're old-school mechanics who take pride in diagnosing faults properly, repairing vehicles correctly, and standing behind our workmanship.

# # # What we're looking for:

✅ Trade Qualified – Certificate III in Automotive Mechanical Technology
✅ Completed a genuine 4-year automotive apprenticeship
✅ Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
✅ Able to work independently and manage jobs from start to finish
✅ Reliable, punctual and takes pride in their work
✅ A team player who enjoys working in a small workshop
✅ Comfortable dealing with customers and assisting with parts ordering
✅ Able to complete repairs efficiently without compromising quality

# # # Bonus points if you have:

⭐ Diesel engine experience
⭐ Experience working on 4WDs, light commercial vehicles, buses or motorhomes

# # # About the role:

At Burke's Mechanical Repairs, every day is different. From routine servicing to complex diagnostics and major mechanical repairs, you'll be trusted to use your skills and experience to get the job done properly.

We're looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, values quality workmanship, and wants to be part of a workshop where doing the job right matters.

If you're after a workplace where you can coast through the day doing the bare minimum, this probably isn't the role for you.

# # # What we offer:

✔ Competitive pay based on your skills and experience
✔ A supportive, close-knit team
✔ Variety of work across cars, 4WDs, buses and motorhomes
✔ A workshop that values quality over shortcuts

💰 **Excellent remuneration package available for the right person.**

🔧 LOG BOOK SERVICE vs BASIC SERVICE — WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE?

We get asked this one a lot! 🚗

Not all car services are the same, and choosing the right service can make a big difference to your vehicle’s maintenance and long-term reliability.

📘 LOG BOOK SERVICE

A log book service is carried out according to the manufacturer’s scheduled servicing requirements for your particular vehicle.

Depending on the vehicle and service interval, this can include:

✅ Engine oil and filter replacement
✅ Inspection and checks as specified by the manufacturer
✅ Fluid levels and condition
✅ Brakes and steering components
✅ Suspension and driveline
✅ Belts and hoses
✅ Tyres and tyre pressures
✅ Lights, wipers and safety items
✅ Diagnostic scan where applicable
✅ Service interval-specific items such as filters, spark plugs, belts and other scheduled maintenance
✅ Resetting the service reminder where applicable
✅ Recording the service in the vehicle’s service history

A log book service is designed to make sure the vehicle receives the correct maintenance at the correct intervals.

🔧 BASIC SERVICE

A basic service is generally a more straightforward maintenance service and may include:

✅ Engine oil replacement
✅ Oil filter replacement
✅ Basic fluid and safety checks
✅ Tyre pressure check
✅ Visual inspection of common wear items

A basic service can be a good option when your vehicle simply requires routine oil and filter maintenance between major services — but it isn't necessarily a substitute for the manufacturer's scheduled log book service.

🤔 SO WHICH ONE DOES YOUR CAR NEED?

That depends on your vehicle, kilometres, age and previous service history.

At Burkes Mechanical Repairs, we can check what your vehicle is due for and explain what needs to be done — without confusing you with workshop jargon.

🚗 Keep your car maintained. Catch problems early. Save money in the long run.

🚗💨 PREVENTATIVE DPF CLEANING – DON’T WAIT FOR THE WARNING LIGHT!

Your DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) works hard to capture soot and emissions from your diesel vehicle. Over time, soot and ash can build up and restrict the filter — particularly if your vehicle does lots of short trips, stop-start driving or town driving.

Regular preventative DPF cleaning can help:

🔧 Reduce DPF blockage and restriction
⛽ Improve fuel economy
💨 Improve exhaust flow
🚗 Maintain engine performance and throttle response
🌡️ Help reduce excessive exhaust temperatures
⚠️ Reduce the chance of DPF warning lights and limp mode
💰 Help avoid costly DPF replacement
🛠️ Keep your diesel vehicle running efficiently

Why wait until your DPF is completely blocked? Preventative maintenance can help identify and deal with DPF issues before they turn into a much bigger repair bill.

If your diesel vehicle mainly does short trips or stop-start driving, or you’ve noticed increased fuel consumption, reduced performance or frequent DPF regenerations, give us a call and we can assess the vehicle and discuss your options.
